World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay and other heritages retain their original names after merger

This is the proposal of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the document that the ministry has just sent to the People's Committees of provinces/cities under the Central Government regarding the management of ranked relics and heritages after merging administrative units.

Do not let the situation of no one being responsible for the relic be unclear.

Accordingly, in addition to keeping the names of world cultural and natural heritages , special national relics, national relics, provincial/municipal relics, localities will simultaneously update the place names associated with the relics according to the newly arranged administrative units.

The names of relics and heritages remain the same, but the organizations, boards/centers managing relics directly related to the administrative units formed after the rearrangement need to be reviewed and adjusted to new names, places, and addresses.

Localities also need to ensure that there are organizations and representatives directly responsible for managing, protecting, and looking after relics. There should be no situation where there is no or unclear person directly responsible.

It is necessary to improve the management apparatus to ensure good performance of the task of protecting relics.

Review the scientific records of relics stored at the People's Committee at the commune level to have a basis for managing relics according to authority. Pay special attention to the minutes and maps of the protected areas of relics with confirmation from the People's Committee at the commune level before arranging to unify land management.

Intangible cultural heritage, national tourist area also retains its name

Intangible cultural heritage must also retain its original name so as not to change the historical, cultural and scientific values of the heritage; review the scientific records of the heritage to unify the scope of distribution and spread of the heritage to have a basis for management according to authority.

Comply with the provisions of Vietnamese law on intangible cultural heritage and the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also proposed to keep the names of recognized national tourist areas; at the same time, update the place names associated with the tourist areas according to the newly arranged administrative units.

Regarding national treasures, it is necessary to review, identify and adjust the administrative unit where the national treasure is kept compared to the name of the administrative unit in the Prime Minister's decision to recognize the national treasure.

Traditional festivals are identified at two levels: "provincial traditional festivals" or "commune-level traditional festivals"./.
