Born in 1957 in a Confucian family in Hai Loc commune, Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh province, but the hometown of Prof. Dr. AHLĐ Nguyen Anh Tri is Lien Minh commune, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province - a hometown rich in the tradition of learning, where many talents for the country were nurtured. His childhood years were associated with the smoke and fire of war, with the sound of planes whistling overhead, with cracked rice fields in the Laotian sun and wind. It was this scene that fostered in him the spirit of hard work, dedication and not being afraid of hardship - qualities that followed him throughout his career and as a person.
Starting from a choice no one chooses
After graduating from Hanoi Medical University, Nguyen Anh Tri chose a path that few people took: hematology and blood transfusion. At that time, this field was still very unfamiliar, lacking in many aspects and requiring many sacrifices. But he did not choose the profession because it was easy. With the intuition of a physician and the vision of a scientist, he saw the great mission of blood - a special resource closely linked to life. From that seemingly lonely choice, he opened up a difficult but brilliant journey of creation for the hematology and blood transfusion industry in Vietnam.

Under his leadership, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion has continued to develop. He laid the foundation for the safe blood transfusion system, the national blood bank, and especially the originator of groundbreaking movements: the Red Spring Festival, the Red Journey - a humane cross-country blood donation campaign, contributing to changing social thinking about voluntary blood donation.
With these achievements, he was awarded the title of Labor Hero in the Renovation Period and People's Physician by the State - a worthy recognition for a person who spent his whole life for others.
People's representative, always listening and acting
After retiring in 2017, instead of resting, he continued to devote himself to the role of National Assembly Delegate of the 14th and 15th terms. In the parliament, he not only spoke strongly about health issues but also demonstrated a broad vision in education, culture, planning and human development.

With a dedicated and responsible approach, he always takes the time to meet and listen to voters, write letters by hand to reflect each concern to the authorities, and follow up on each case to the end. Whether he is a doctor or a people's representative, he always focuses on people - with respect, listening and sharing.
MEDDOM – a “living memory” of Vietnamese scientists
One of his silent but profound contributions was the founding of the Center for Heritage of Vietnamese Scientists (MEDDOM) in 2008. In the context of the intellectual heritage and history of science not receiving due attention, he proactively conducted thousands of meetings, interviews, and collected valuable documents from veteran scientists - many of whom were entering their twilight years.

From a bold idea, MEDDOM has now become a massive living archive, with millions of pages of documents, artifacts, letters, diaries, manuscripts... not only preserving the history of Vietnamese science but also telling the stories of silent but great people. Extending that dream is the Heritage Park of Scientists in Hoa Binh - a space that is both educational and grateful.
Artist of life
In him, people not only see the appearance of a scientist or a manager, but also recognize the profound soul of a poet. Poetry, memoirs, music - for him are not only hobbies but also a way to express, share, and preserve human emotions. He has composed more than 300 poems, published 4 poetry collections, and 3 big music nights under his name - where he wrote about his mother, his homeland, his comrades, and the human condition in the current situation.

Those simple, sincere lyrics are not technical, but rich in emotion and full of humanity. In his poems, readers can feel a doctor who once held the patient's hand in life and death moments, a National Assembly representative who worries about the people, a son who always looks back to his homeland.
A beautiful life, a great soul

Prof. Dr. Labor Hero Nguyen Anh Tri is one of the rare characters who can combine intelligence - heart - action. A life of dedication, resilience but extremely close. He does not create great things in imagination, but creates practical solutions for life, models of spreading nature, and cultural - intellectual heritages of lasting value for the future.
When asked what makes him happiest in his life, he just smiled gently and said:
“I feel so lucky to be able to do what I believe in, be true to myself and contribute to this country.”
