Duc Hieu 'Us 8 Years Later': Manh Truong is very handsome, I also like him

VTC NewsVTC News16/01/2024

Playing the role of a love rival in the movie 'We of 8 years later', but in real life, actor Phung Duc Hieu admires his senior Manh Truong in many ways.

Hieu married a wife 5 years older than him, so what is it that Huyen is 2 years older?

- The audience who watched 'Us of 8 Years Later' mostly praised Dr. Tuan for his handsomeness but did not comment on Phung Duc Hieu's acting. Are you happy to read these comments? Do you think your character is too perfect?

First of all, I would like to thank director Bui Tien Huy, who gave me the opportunity to play the role of Doctor Tuan. He was also the one who wholeheartedly guided and helped me orient myself so that I could integrate and act out the character properly.

The character of Doctor Tuan in the movie is the perfect guy for many girls, but from a certain perspective, he may not be the type of some people. So liking or disliking someone is normal. Just like an actor, when he transforms into a character that the audience cares about and loves, no matter how little or much, it is a great encouragement. Hieu accepts all that attention with a desire to learn and constantly improve himself.

- The second time working with Huyen Lizzie but the first time playing the role of a senior's pursuer, how did you act out the confession and kissing scenes with your co-star? Looking at the ending image, many people speculate that Doctor Tuan and Duong will be a couple in the future?

Hieu married a wife 5 years older than him, so what's the difference between Huyen and him being 2 years older (laughs). Just kidding, thanks to the character creation and importantly, both sisters discussed, analyzed, and rehearsed carefully before each scene, so in the movie there's no difference, they even look good together!

If they become a couple, there must be a love scene. But whether it will work out or not, we will have to wait for the next episodes of the movie.

- What does your wife think when she sees her husband always acting with beautiful co-stars and every role has a kissing scene, is she jealous?

My wife is very understanding and sympathetic to my work. But I guess she would still feel a little sad when she saw me acting in too many emotional scenes. If I were in her shoes, I would feel the same way. That's my guess, but in reality, because she knew that scene would come up, my wife even sat there and teased me, gave me advice to make the scene more realistic, and praised my co-actors.

That's why I love and respect my wife even more. We have an agreement that right from the time we read the script, if we see any emotional scenes with our co-stars, we will remember to tell and update each other. When we share with each other naturally, it will also create trust and comfort for each other.

I learned a hard lesson from the movie 'Street in the Village'

- So before accepting a role, you always report to your wife and "confess" to romantic scenes with your co-stars to avoid conflicts at home?

I learned a hard lesson after the movie Street in the Village (laughs). Back then, I had a kissing scene but didn't report it, so my wife was angry. Actually, she didn't forbid anything because she understood the nature of the job, but at least I should have shared it in advance so she wouldn't be surprised.

So when I came to the movie "8 Years Later" , I had more experience and knowledge. When I read the script and saw that there were details about acting romantically with my co-star, I immediately reported it. After hearing that, my wife said: Oh, so there are romantic scenes? - I joked: Now, either you let me go make a real movie, or both the real and the supporting characters stay home so I can support you . At that time, my wife smiled and glared at me lovingly: Your real self has to become an actor, remember to do it honestly!

- For example, if you were offered a very good male lead role but was a bad boy with bold hot scenes that your wife didn't like, would you dare...

If it is bold within the artistic framework and is an opportunity to challenge, explore, and renew myself, my wife will definitely support it. Because she also has experience in the acting profession, she sympathizes and understands the profession.

This is even something my wife always encourages and motivates me to explore and diversify my acting skills in characters that go beyond my safe and familiar threshold.

Duc Hieu 'Us 8 Years Later': Manh Truong is very handsome, I also like him - 3

Mr. Manh Truong is very handsome, I am a boy and I also like him.

- Doctor Tuan's fan base is not less than Lam's in Manh Truong's film. Many viewers say that he will soon replace Manh Truong in the role of the handsome guy because he is 7 years older and has 3 children, gradually no longer suitable for this type of role while Hieu is young, has a bright appearance and is a new face on the screen. What do you think about this?

Anh Manh Truong is young, handsome, and tall. I am a guy but I also like him. He is the epitome of masculine beauty and I always admire his appearance, acting, lifestyle, and work.

I believe that opportunities at VFC are always shared equally among all actors. Moreover, the story of old bamboo and new bamboo growing is also natural and necessary for development in any field. The possibility of replacement is a story ahead, it takes more time for me and the young actors to continue to try, make efforts to learn and strive to work hard.

- Many people say you are only suitable for playing positive roles, the type of romantic hero, but what types of roles do you like?

Every actor wants to build an image, a role that is memorable to the audience. I feel that I am still young in both time spent in acting and diversity of experience. So I am eager to work and explore myself.

Honestly, I also want to challenge myself with a villain role. It could be a character who appears simple on the outside but is scheming and dangerous on the inside. With such roles, I have the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone when I am familiar with the audience as a gentle, scholarly character.

- Vietnamese TV dramas have many notable names such as Viet Anh, Manh Truong, Hong Dang... do you particularly like anyone or want to become a male screen god like them?

All three of them are seniors and have a lot of acting experience to learn from them, such as Viet Anh's flexible and individual acting style, Manh Truong's deep composure, or Hong Dang's charm... But I will strive to become a better version of myself in the future by learning more from the knowledge and acting style of my seniors every day to create my own style.

- Your wife has acted in movies, will you two ever act together?

It is true that my wife has participated in both movies and TV series, even winning awards. When we have time at home, we often record funny clips and upload them to social networks, interacting with the audience. My wife and I have also participated in a number of projects together such as taking photos, filming TVCs, music videos... and once participated in a Tet comedy ( Giac Mo Quan Truong - the movie that brought us together).

In the future, if there is an opportunity for the couple to act in a movie together, there will be nothing better, there will definitely be many interesting things while making the movie. I wonder if the couple will be able to hold back their laughter when they look at each other (laughs).
