The city has launched many new tourism products, improved service quality, and turned the holiday into a lever to promote tourism development in the new period.
If the railway has long been associated with the image of old, heavy train cars, the " Hanoi 5-door" train brings a completely different experience.
Many new and attractive products
From design to interior, the train "Hanoi 5 gates" bears a strong nostalgic mark. The classic color scheme creates elegance and politeness, while every detail is carefully taken care of: the floor is paved with familiar marble patterns, tables, chairs and wall paintings are imbued with the colors of the old Hanoi. The seats are conveniently arranged for visitors to both admire the scenery on both sides and chat, creating the feeling of being in a mobile restaurant. When the train rolls from Hanoi station through many streets, Long Bien bridge to Tu Son station ( Bac Ninh ) and then back, passengers can also enjoy traditional art performances, especially Xam melodies. This is the first railway tourism product of Hanoi. Ms. Pham Thi Thu Hang (Lang ward) shared: "I was very surprised to experience an old Hanoi on the train, and also see the streets from a different perspective, making me love Hanoi even more".
To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, Hanoi introduces the product set "80 Hanoi experiences not to be missed during the historic festival season" with many thematic groups: Heritage-culture-history, cuisine-shopping-urban, art-creativity, agriculture-craft villages, transportation-railway-waterway... In the transportation group, besides the tourist boat "Hanoi with five gates", another unique product is the Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro line experience journey. Visitors will be able to visit the process of regulating and operating the urban railway line 2A, try the simulated cockpit at the train driver training room, in two product packages: "Green Journey-Van Phuc Silk Village" and "Green Journey-Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam-Phu Luong Depot".
Tourist areas and spots in Hanoi have proactively built many rich products to meet the sightseeing and entertainment needs of people and tourists. Notable ones include: Experiential tourism associated with heritage-relics in Ha Mo; the "South Thang Long-Hanoi Heritage Road" route combining craft villages and typical products such as chrysanthemum wine in Dai Thanh, ornamental flower and tree craft in Hong Van, Chuyen My ancient village; community tourism associated with the culture of ethnic minorities in My Duc... The city also coordinated with units to organize dozens of art activities, displays, and exhibitions to serve people and tourists. Typical examples are: Exhibition of revolutionary and historical relics at Thang Long Imperial Citadel; exhibition "Hanoi Traditional and Creative Space 2025" (from August 28 to September 5, at the National Exhibition Center, Dong Anh); art program "Hanoi - Forever Vietnam's Aspiration" (evening of August 31); and special art program at My Dinh Stadium (September 1 evening).
Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism Tran Trung Hieu said that holidays are always the time when Hanoi attracts a large number of domestic and international tourists. This year, the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd has a special meaning, when the capital becomes the center of a series of commemorative activities, so Hanoi has carefully prepared infrastructure, services and tourism products to be ready to welcome a large number of domestic and foreign visitors.
Leverage for new development stage
The events celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2) took place at an important time for the capital's tourism industry. Not only considering this an opportunity to attract visitors, Hanoi identified this opportunity to promote its potential and strengths, build the image of the capital's tourism, and create leverage for sustainable development. In parallel with launching tourism products for the holiday, the city is implementing a long-term strategy: Upgrading core products, improving service quality, human resources, and promoting smart tourism. From now until the end of 2025, the capital's tourism industry will continue to announce many new products, notably the "Tran Vu Bell" night experience tour at Quan Thanh Temple, expected to officially open at the end of 2025.
Not only stopping at digitalizing destination promotion and service booking, Hanoi is expanding smart tourism with many new applications: AI adjusts room prices, suggests personalized itineraries; virtual reality and augmented reality technology helps visitors before booking services; digital technology supports accommodation and travel management. Deputy Director of Hanoi Tourism Information and Promotion Center Nguyen Huu Viet said that the city aims to basically form a smart tourism ecosystem by 2025, and complete the digital platform by 2030. This orientation not only helps to enhance the experience, ensure convenience and safety for tourists, but also affirms the role of tourism as a pillar of the creative economy. For Hanoi, developing smart tourism is a harmonious combination of modern technology and cultural and heritage values, so that every visitor to the capital has a complete and unique experience.
This year's September 2nd holiday witnessed the heat of Hanoi tourism when the system of 2-4 star hotels and homestays in the inner city was almost full, with only a small number of vacant rooms in the 5-star segment. Online searches skyrocketed, "Hanoi tourism" was the most searched keyword on service booking platforms. According to Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang, the city aims to welcome 31 million visitors in 2025, aiming for 46 million visitors in 2030, with total revenue reaching about 280 trillion VND, contributing 10.5-11% of GRDP. During this period, Hanoi focuses on prioritizing investment in tourism infrastructure, while striving to form 3 national tourist areas: Ba Vi, Huong Son and Hoan Kiem Lake - Old Quarter. This will be the foundation for tourism to become a spearhead economic sector, helping Hanoi affirm its position as a tourism center of the country and the region.
