Emotional crowd pays respect to former President Tran Duc Luong

Among the people paying their respects and saying goodbye to former President Tran Duc Luong at Thong Nhat Hall were many veteran revolutionaries, war veterans, and former teammates and comrades.

On the morning of May 24, the funeral of former President Tran Duc Luong was held simultaneously at Thong Nhat Hall, Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, along with leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, city leaders, armed forces, departments, unions, social organizations, diplomatic corps of countries in the city, delegations of southern provinces and cities and a large number of people from all walks of life respectfully bowed to pay their respects to former President Tran Duc Luong with deep condolences.

From early morning, delegations from southern provinces and cities, armed forces, and foreign diplomatic agencies in Ho Chi Minh City were present in front of the Reunification Hall.

The first to pay their respects at the Reunification Hall were the delegations of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and retired Party and State leaders in the City, and former leaders of the City. The delegation was led by Comrade Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

Emotionally writing in the condolence book, veteran Vu Thi Minh Thai recalled memories of former President Tran Duc Luong when they were still in her hometown in Quang Ngai. Among the many medals and orders awarded to her by the Party and State, there were medals signed by President Tran Duc Luong.

Ms. Vu Thi Minh Thai shared: "I am very grateful, admire and respect former President Tran Duc Luong. I have many memories with him since the days we went to school together. When I heard the news of his passing, I was truly sad and sorry."

Arriving early and waiting for her turn to pay her respects to former President Tran Duc Luong, Nguyen Thi Phuong Huyen, President of the Student Association of Saigon University of Technology, and other members of the city's youth union quietly bowed their heads in solemnity. Phuong Huyen said that to have a prosperous and happy life like today is thanks to the contributions of Party and State leaders who have contributed to preserving and developing the homeland. Following the example of her predecessors, Phuong Huyen also hopes to contribute a small part to the construction and innovation of the country.

Ms. Le Thi Dang (63 years old, from Ben Tre), Deputy Head of the Cao Dai Church, emotionally shared: "Former President Tran Duc Luong devoted his whole life to his homeland and the Fatherland. At 88 years old and nearly 70 years in the Party, the former President devoted his efforts to leading the country of Vietnam, and the Vietnamese people to prosperity and happiness. In addition, the former President paid great attention to religious beliefs and always created conditions for the Church to be successful on the path of practicing religion."

Visiting and saying goodbye to former President Tran Duc Luong, Ms. Tang Thi Kim Hoang, an overseas Vietnamese in Australia, said that she, her husband and the delegation of the Overseas Vietnamese Committee of Ho Chi Minh City attended the funeral. Although she often lives abroad, she always closely follows the situation in the country.

According to Ms. Kim Hoang, each leader left his own mark, contributing to the development of the country. She expressed her emotion at the funeral of former President Tran Duc Luong, who contributed to leading the country, helping the people live in peace and prosperity./.
