Recently, localities in the province have focused on reviewing, inspecting, and relocating livestock facilities that cause environmental pollution and are not in accordance with planning.
By the end of July 2024, the whole province had 1,549 livestock farms relocated, reaching a rate of more than 51.5%. In particular, some districts with large livestock herds such as Thong Nhat, Trang Bom, Xuan Loc... have done a good job of relocating or strengthening the handling of environmental violations in livestock farming.
Specifically, in Thong Nhat district, in 2023 alone, the district organized inspections and administrative sanctions for violations in the field of environmental protection in livestock farming with 105 cases.
The total fines collected were over 2.1 billion VND. In recent times, the district has actively organized inspections and handled violations, so the problem of environmental pollution in livestock farming has clearly changed.
Vice Chairman of Thong Nhat District People's Committee Nguyen Dinh Cuong said that the entire district has 74 livestock farms that must be relocated.
To date, the district has relocated 46 facilities. The remaining facilities and farms are mainly small-scale livestock farms. It is expected that by early 2025, all of these facilities will be relocated according to the province's roadmap.

This has caused the total livestock herd in the district to decrease sharply. Previously, the district's total pig herd was 441,000, with more than 3,500 farms. However, by June 2024, the entire district will have only 352 farms managed at the district level; 2 farms managed at the provincial level.
This is also the reason why the total livestock herd in the province has decreased sharply recently, especially with the two main livestock: pigs and chickens.
According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, as of the end of August, the total livestock herd of the province reached about 2.2 million heads, down 10.8% over the same period. Of which, the total pig herd reached over 2 million heads, down nearly 11.4% over the same period. The total chicken herd reached over 21.7 million heads, down 1.8% over the same period.
Not only with the main livestock with large herds such as pigs and chickens, many households raising large livestock in the province such as buffaloes and cows also stopped raising them when they were no longer suitable for the province's planning.
Dong Nai ’s livestock industry is also making efforts to transform livestock development towards modernity and environmental protection. Livestock facilities in the province are increasingly interested in upgrading, renovating, repairing or investing in waste treatment systems.
In particular, large-scale pig and poultry farms focus on applying high technology to livestock farming. In particular, farms invest in wastewater treatment systems, apply biological bedding, and treat livestock manure into manure for use in farming.
