In the first working day program (May 20) of the 7th Session of the 15th National Assembly, the National Assembly held a secret ballot and voted to pass a Resolution to elect Mr. Tran Thanh Man as Chairman of the National Assembly for the 2021-2026 term.

Previously, at the 9th Central Conference, term XIII, the Central Committee had a high consensus to introduce: Comrade Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly - directing the activities of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Assembly for the 15th National Assembly to elect to hold the position of Chairman of the National Assembly.

During the morning session on May 20 of the 7th Session of the 15th National Assembly, the National Assembly conducted the process of electing the Chairman of the 15th National Assembly. Specifically, after the National Assembly Standing Committee presented the nomination list, the delegates discussed in groups.

On the same afternoon, the National Assembly voted to approve the list and elected the National Assembly Chairman by secret ballot.

Presenting the draft Resolution on the election of the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term, Secretary General of the National Assembly, Head of the Office of the National Assembly Bui Van Cuong said that, based on the Constitution, the Law on Organization of the National Assembly, the Rules of the National Assembly Session, the Report of the National Assembly Standing Committee, the Minutes of the vote counting on May 20, 2024, the Resolution resolves: Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Deputy of the 15th National Assembly, holds the position of Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term.

Under the direction of Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh, the National Assembly voted to pass the Resolution to elect the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term by electronic voting.

As a result, 475/475 delegates participated in the vote in favor, accounting for 100% of the total number of National Assembly delegates present in favor. Thus, the National Assembly passed the Resolution to elect Mr. Tran Thanh Man as Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term.

Before the National Assembly, compatriots and voters nationwide, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man swore: "Under the sacred red flag with yellow star of the Fatherland, before the National Assembly and compatriots and voters nationwide, I - Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam swear: To be absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the People, to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, to strive to fulfill well the tasks assigned by the Party, State and People".

In his inaugural speech, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed: I pledge to devote all my efforts to serving the Fatherland and the People; together with the National Assembly, the National Assembly Standing Committee, the agencies of the National Assembly, the agencies under the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Assembly deputies, continue to innovate, improve the quality and efficiency of activities in terms of legislation, supreme supervision and decision-making on important issues of the country; continue to strengthen the National Assembly's foreign affairs along with the Party's foreign affairs, State diplomacy and people's diplomacy; promote democracy, solidarity, openness, transparency and professionalism, contributing to building a truly socialist rule-of-law state of the people, by the people and for the people.
