The delegation included representatives of the Central External Relations Commission, the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, along with members and the Secretariat of the 4th Review Group. On the Ministry of Foreign Affairs side, there was Comrade Bui Thanh Son, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Head of the 4th Review Group, and leaders of units under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on a number of theoretical and practical issues on foreign affairs that have had a great impact on the cause of national construction, development and protection of the Fatherland, and the Party's foreign policy over the past 40 years, focusing on assessing the period from the 12th Congress to the present.

During the discussion, members of the survey delegation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs exchanged and evaluated contents related to the implementation of the Party and State's foreign policies and guidelines in 40 years of renovation.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that, implementing the Party's policy of innovation in foreign affairs, over the past 40 years, foreign affairs, together with national defense and security, have made important contributions to the country's great achievements, from breaking the embargo, expanding foreign relations, international integration to promoting the deepening of relations, proactively and actively integrating comprehensively, deeply and effectively into the international community. The achievements in developing the Party's foreign policy theory over the past 40 years have special significance and importance, and are the basis for successfully implementing foreign affairs tasks in the coming time.

The members of the Survey Team and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs agreed that the new context requires the inheritance and development of theoretical thinking on foreign affairs in line with new requirements. Accordingly, foreign affairs need to further promote its pioneering role, closely coordinate with national defense and security in creating and maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, mobilizing external resources to serve national development, and enhancing Vietnam's position and prestige.

Comrade Nguyen Van Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, Deputy Head of Group 4 delivered the concluding speech at the Conference.

In his concluding remarks at the Conference, Comrade Nguyen Van Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council and Deputy Head of the Summary Group No. 4, highly appreciated the work of summarizing 40 years of innovation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, saying that the summary work was carried out proactively, meticulously, scientifically, with high quality and on time.

He emphasized that from the practical implementation of foreign affairs, defense and security work, many new issues have emerged such as the emergence of diverse security challenges, economic linkage trends based on digital platforms, and areas where Vietnam can demonstrate a higher international role in accordance with the country's current position and strength.

Therefore, the review work needs to have deeper assessments and on the basis of drawing lessons from 40 years of innovation to propose and recommend policies, viewpoints, and directions on foreign affairs and the combination of foreign affairs with national defense and security in the coming time.
