Extremely hot confrontation between rookie and veteran

The quarter-finals of the 3rd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2025 THACO Cup have come to an end with 2 remaining matches taking place today. Thanks to that, the semi-final pairs have been determined.

In the quarter-final match taking place at 3:30 p.m., Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports defeated Van Hien University with a score of 2-1.

Despite taking an early 2-goal lead thanks to Vu Viet Hoang, Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports struggled to hold on until the final minutes. Coach Pham Minh and his team let their opponents score to reduce the score to 1-2, then struggled to withstand the pressure before successfully preserving the fragile gap.

In the quarter-final match taking place at 5:45 p.m., Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism defeated Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology with a score of 1-0, thanks to the only goal scored by captain Le Van Thuc in the 71st minute.

Van Thuc's goal helped the representative from Thanh Hoa overcome a very difficult match. Despite the final defeat, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology played fairly with its opponents. The efforts of coach Nguyen Quoc Nam and his team are the foundation for this team to be able to return stronger next year.

So, this year's semi-finals will be an exciting showdown. Semi-final 1 will be a match between two rookies, while semi-final 2 will be between two veterans.

- In the first semi-final match taking place at 3:30 p.m. on March 14, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry will face Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism .

- In the second semi-final match taking place at 5:45 p.m. on March 14, Da Nang University of Physical Education and Sports will compete with Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports .

It is worth mentioning that all 4 teams have entered the semi-finals of the Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament for the first time. In particular, Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry have entered the final round for the first time, but have now won tickets to the semi-finals.

In the quarter-final matches that took place yesterday (March 11), Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry won 1-0 against Quy Nhon University thanks to an early goal by Thach Tri Tuong. Meanwhile, Da Nang University of Physical Education and Sports drew 3-3 with Ton Duc Thang University, before beating their opponent 5-4 in a thrilling penalty shootout.
