Ngoc Nhi is Hue's 2024 reading culture ambassador and at the launching ceremony of the 2025 Reading Culture Ambassador contest in Hue City on a day at the end of April, this young person's sharing received praise and response from those who attended.

Speaking in front of everyone, Nhi believes that surely in everyone's memory there are the first pages of books, maybe fairy tales with fairies and princes, or rhymes for practicing spelling. Nhi is no exception. From the pages of books that still smell of new paper, you seem to be lost in a magical world, a world that witnesses your own journey of growing up.

“Books are not just lines of words printed on paper, but they are like a silent storyteller, a patient teacher who guides me to discover many new things in this life. Just like that, I grew up with the pages of books and my love for words also grew over the years. That is why I soon realized the benefits that reading brings,” Nhi confided.

In her journey of pursuing reading, Nhi has come to appreciate the saying of philosopher René Descartes: “Reading a good book is like conversing with the most distinguished people of past centuries.” This saying not only emphasizes the value of knowledge but also suggests a spiritual connection, a communication that transcends all barriers of time and space that reading brings.

It was that spirit that sowed the seeds of Ngoc Nhi's love of literature and reading culture. She reads many genres and finds value in every page.

“Reading Nguyen Du’s “Truyen Kieu”, we converse with a kind heart, a clear view of human destiny in feudal society. Reading Lev Tolstoy’s “War and Peace”, we listen to the complex developments of history, the struggles in the human soul before great changes. Each work is a separate “voice”, contributing to the polyphonic symphony of human culture”, Nhi concluded.

Nhi considers the journey of pursuing each work as a trip back in time. That trip is an opportunity for you to "chat" with great minds, noble hearts and kindred spirits. Through the pages of books, you not only learn knowledge but also nurture your soul, broaden your vision and become richer. "Therefore, reading is an essential spiritual need, a beautiful cultural trait that needs to be cherished and nurtured," Nhi confided.

Sharing more about the qualities of a young person in the new era, Nhi also sent her thanks to the organizations that organized competitions related to reading culture. For Nhi, it is not only an opportunity to express her love for books, but also to exchange and learn with friends who share the same passion.

“I hope that all of you will consider books as your companion on the path to adulthood, as the universal key to open the door to knowledge and explore the world,” Nhi added, hoping that the 2025 Reading Culture Ambassador contest will find outstanding faces who will continue to ignite the passion for reading in each of us.
