The Chairman of the Planning, Finance and Audit Committee of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR and the delegation were impressed by the large-scale investment projects in Ha Tinh and were especially excited when the port system of the Lao-Viet International Port Joint Stock Company was planned in a modern and methodical manner.

Continuing the working program in Ha Tinh, on the morning of January 26, the delegation of the Planning, Finance and Audit Committee of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR led by Mr. Leeber Leebouapao - Chairman of the Committee offered incense at the relic site of the late General Secretary Ha Huy Tap (Cam Xuyen district) and visited the Vung Ang Economic Zone (Ky Anh town).

Receiving the delegation, on the side of the Vietnamese National Assembly, there was comrade Vu Tuan Anh - Standing member of the National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee; on the side of Ha Tinh, there was Deputy Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Tran Dinh Gia, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Tran Van Ky.

Laying wreaths and offering incense at the relic site of late General Secretary Ha Huy Tap, comrade Leeber Leebouapao and the delegation vowed to develop the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam to be forever green and sustainable.

Next, the delegation visited Formosa Ha Tinh Iron and Steel Company Limited, VinES Ha Tinh Battery Factory and Lao - Viet International Port Joint Stock Company.

Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation has 3 main items: a closed steel plant, Son Duong port and a power plant on a total area of ​​3,318 hectares. The total investment capital is nearly 12.8 billion USD. The entire phase I project with 2 blast furnaces with an output of 7 million tons of steel billets/year was completed in 2020.

Currently, the number of staff and workers is about 6,400 people (Vietnamese staff is about 5,900 people), contractor workers is about 5,100 people, directly creating job opportunities for over 11,000 people.

In 2023, steel billet output reached more than 5.7 million tons, steel product consumption was more than 6.1 million tons, revenue was more than 3.9 billion USD. The company paid about 330 million USD in taxes.

The delegation visited Son Duong port.

Son Duong Port has welcomed 941 ships entering and leaving the port, with a loading and unloading volume of more than 24 million tons. Since the construction of the factory, the total cost of implementing social welfare activities has been nearly 158 billion VND.

The delegation visited VinES Battery Factory.

VinES Battery Factory has a total registered capital of over VND 3,784 billion, started construction in December 2021 and officially came into operation in July 2023; to date, it has commercially produced more than 1,300 complete battery packs. The factory uses advanced technology according to US and European standards, with a high automation rate of over 80%, and is the most modern battery factory in Vietnam, with a capacity of 100,000 battery packs/year. The factory is creating jobs for 150 workers.

On May 24, 2011, Vietnam - Laos Vung Ang Port Joint Stock Company was established with 4 shareholders, of which, the Lao Joint Stock Company for Vung Ang Port Development (Lao PDR) held 20% of the charter capital. On December 15, 2017, Vietnam - Laos Vung Ang Port Joint Stock Company was renamed Lao - Vietnam International Port Joint Stock Company. To support Laos' long-term development, Vietnam has created conditions for Laos to use Vung Ang Port 1, 2, 3.

Of which, port 1 has been in operation since 2001, port 2 since 2008 with cargo throughput of 2 ports reaching 3.5 million tons/year. Port 3 with a total investment of nearly 1,000 billion VND, designed with cargo throughput capacity of nearly 2 million tons/year, capacity to receive ships up to 45,000 DWT is being focused on construction, completion and expected to be put into operation in 2024.

In 2023, the total volume of goods passing through ports will reach about 4 million tons, including export and import goods; especially transit goods from Laos will account for 30-40%.

During the visit, comrade Leeber Leebouapao and the delegation were impressed by the large-scale investment projects in Ha Tinh and were especially excited when the port system of Lao-Viet International Port Joint Stock Company was planned in a modern and methodical manner. Thereby, it not only contributed to increasing the economic and commercial value but also had important political significance, fostering the special friendship between Laos and Vietnam.
