Specifically, at around 5:30 p.m. on May 25, when Mr. Pham Van Phuc was at home in Ward 1, he suddenly heard screaming on the bank of the Hieu River. Mr. Phuc immediately ran over and saw a child running and crying. When he asked, he learned that another girl had just fallen into the river.

Without a second thought, Mr. Phuc quickly approached the location and jumped in to save the child, promptly bringing him to shore. The victim later regained consciousness and was taken to the Provincial General Hospital by his family.

Chairman of Dong Thanh Ward People's Committee Vo Ngoc Nam said that the girl who was saved by Mr. Phuc is named NTNY (7 years old), residing in Quarter 1, Dong Giang Ward, Dong Ha City. Before that, Y. and 2 other friends were playing along the riverbank, unfortunately slipped and fell into the river.
