On June 16, the People's Committee of Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province, said that the site clearance work for the Quang Tri Airport project is being focused on to hand over the site to the investor to organize the groundbreaking ceremony and construct the project.

To speed up the site clearance work, Gio Linh District People's Committee has launched a peak campaign to carry out site clearance work for Quang Tri Airport Project Phase 1, from June 5 to June 20.

Up to now, the scope of land acquisition and clearance for Quang Tri Airport project phase 1 has completed the counting work, publicized the plan and has paid compensation and support to many affected households in Gio Quang and Gio Mai communes.

Specifically, in Gio Quang commune, compensation was paid to 1 household with 3 affected graves and 76 households with affected forest areas with a total amount of more than 28.7 billion VND.

The Steering Committee for Land Clearance and Compensation of Gio Quang Commune mobilized nearly 100 people, including union members, members of commune associations, militia, village team leaders, police officers, etc., to support households in cutting down trees. By June 13, 15 hectares had been cut down.

In addition, due to the large area and large number of trees, in order to hand over the clean site on schedule, on June 13, Gio Linh District People's Committee issued a document requesting Division 968 to support forces to help the locality with site clearance.

In Gio Mai commune, the work of mobilizing households with tombs to relocate and arranging a new cemetery has been completed.

Currently, compensation has been paid to 11 households whose graves were affected with a total amount of more than 1.2 billion VND; Site leveling is underway to relocate the mausoleum and grave.

29 households whose houses and assets were affected in Gio Mai commune have completed the inventory work. Gio Linh District People's Committee has coordinated with the District Land Acquisition and Compensation Council to inspect, review, and compare the origin of residential land, garden land, assets, and architectural structures on land at affected households before applying compensation prices.

The district has also publicly announced compensation prices for households in Gio Mai whose forest land is located in the recovered area and has inventoried and counted trees.

In Gio Hai commune, the Land Acquisition and Compensation Council has re-examined all records of the recovered agricultural land area to determine the origin of land use and determine the recovered agricultural land area for support according to regulations...

According to the People's Committee of Gio Linh district, the Quang Tri Airport project in the three communes of Gio Quang, Gio Mai and Gio Hai has a total land acquisition area of ​​more than 265 hectares, of which phase 1 is nearly 136 hectares.

"Implementing the decision of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province on assigning the task of the investor of the project of land acquisition and clearance for the construction of Quang Tri Airport phase 1, the district People's Committee is currently focusing on implementing the land acquisition and clearance work to hand over the site on schedule," said the leader of the People's Committee of Gio Linh district.

According to the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, the Quang Tri Airport project is scheduled to hold a groundbreaking ceremony on July 6, 2024 in Gio Quang commune.

On June 11, Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien also inspected the area where the project groundbreaking ceremony is expected to take place.
