(VTC News) – Decades-old wild peach trees planted in Son La have now been transported to Hanoi to be sold for Tet at prices up to hundreds of millions of VND per tree.
For many days now, on Lac Long Quan Street (Tay Ho District, Hanoi), many vendors have been selling ancient Son La peach trees, attracting the attention of consumers.
Mr. Tuan, the owner of a stall selling wild peach blossoms, said that although it has only been open for a few days, many customers have heard about it and come to look around and ask to buy.
According to Mr. Tuan, these peach trees are more than 20cm in diameter and about 30 years old.
They are grafted with wild peach branches to help create shape, canopy, and more flowers.
“Wild peach trees are more expensive than Nhat Tan peach trees. When playing wild peach trees, people will play with the roots, not just the buds and flowers. The bigger and rougher the trunk, the more expensive it is. Wild peach flowers are also quite different with thick petals and a faded pink color. The peach trees on sale are predicted to start blooming in just a few days, and will be in full bloom by Tet.
Wild peach trees are also stamped to verify their origin, ensuring that no deforestation occurs.
The trunks look rotten but in fact these wild peach trees are still full of life.
According to a survey, wild peach trees cost 60 - 100 million VND/tree.
Smaller pots cost 20 - 40 million VND/pot.
The smallest type costs from 6 million to 10 million VND/pot, suitable for many people's budget.
On Co Linh Street (Long Bien District), ancient peach trees are also showing off their beauty, waiting for customers to buy.
Mr. Nguyen, a seller here, said: "My garden is mainly ancient peach trees. Most of my regular customers come to rent them for between 50 million and 250 million VND per tree. Some large trees have been reserved in advance."
Some trees are being transported by crane by Mr. Nguyen to serve customers celebrating Tet early.
