Tom Cleverley when he was still playing for MU |
Immediately after the final whistle, Cleverley entered the studio to conduct his post-match interview. However, as the former Manchester United midfielder stood with a microphone attached to his shirt, the media team struggled to fix a technical problem.
Meanwhile, the host – who seemed unaware he was on air – suddenly answered his phone. This made Cleverley, who looked annoyed, want to leave. After about 90 seconds of standing there in confusion, the 36-year-old strategist decided to take off his microphone and leave the studio. About half a minute later, the broadcast screen went black.
An Argyle fan posted a clip of the incident with the comment: “This shows everything about the club: unprofessionalism, amateurism. Look at Cleverley’s face, he’s had enough. I bet he’s about to leave.”
Argyle's summer has been a disaster: former coach Miron Muslic left to take charge of Schalke, and a host of key players have left the club. Cleverley is working with a fragile squad at Home Park, with Argyle losing almost half of the squad that barely survived the Championship last season.
As a player, Tom Cleverley started playing for Manchester United in 2011. Cleverley had an impressive debut, winning his first title, the 2011 Community Shield, and gradually asserted his position in the midfield.
However, after Sir Alex retired, Cleverley's form declined somewhat, and he was no longer a regular starter. Ending his career at Old Trafford in 2014, Cleverley made a total of 79 appearances, scoring 5 goals and winning the 2012-2013 Premier League along with two Community Shields in 2011 and 2013.
