The book consists of three parts: Part 1: The important role and great contribution of foreign affairs in the cause of national construction and defense, including the latest overview article and 7 speeches by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the Party Central Committee conferences, diplomatic conferences, and national foreign affairs conferences. The articles and speeches of the General Secretary demonstrate the strategic thinking of the head of our Party on Vietnam's foreign policy and diplomacy.

Part two: Vietnam's foreign relations for independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, including 78 speeches, articles, addresses, interviews, letters, telegrams... of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at bilateral and multilateral diplomatic activities and forums, demonstrating the close and harmonious coordination between the pillars of foreign affairs: party diplomacy, state diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy.

Memories, impressions, and stories of ambassadors, officials working in foreign affairs and diplomacy, journalists, and overseas Vietnamese who accompanied and met General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong during his visits and work at home and abroad show their affection, respect, and trust in the leadership of the Party and the General Secretary.

The book is a testament to the maturity, development of thinking and achievements of Vietnam's foreign affairs and diplomacy.

The book is a very necessary handbook to help Party committees, Party organizations, sectors, levels, cadres, Party members, and cadres working in foreign affairs to grasp and effectively implement foreign affairs work in the coming time.

He requested: “The Central Propaganda Department shall preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central External Relations Committee, the Truth National Political Publishing House and press agencies to focus on propagating and introducing the book's content to a large number of cadres, party members, people of all walks of life, Vietnamese representative agencies abroad and direct the translation of the book into foreign languages ​​so that international friends can better understand the value of the book and Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification and international integration...
