On June 14, speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Nguyen Huu Thinh, Party Secretary - Chairman of Cam Thinh Commune People's Committee (Cam Xuyen District, Ha Tinh), said that the locality had just received 500 million VND from a family to set up a scholarship fund.

According to Mr. Thinh, this money was received at the funeral of Mr. Cao Van San (98 years old) on June 11. Mr. Cao Van San is a shining example of studying and educating his children.

After retiring from teaching, at a rare age, he still wrote stories and poems by hand.

"Before he passed away, he instructed his children and grandchildren to use their savings and condolences to set up a scholarship fund to encourage children in his hometown to overcome difficulties, study well, and contribute to building a learning society. This is a very noble and valuable work. We would like to thank the deceased and his family for their kindness," Mr. Thinh shared.

In the coming time, the commune government will complete the documents to soon establish a fund to encourage learning and talent according to regulations.

According to the commune leader, Mr. San’s family is a model, famous family. His wife is also a 75-year Party member, and his children and grandchildren are all successful. The businesses of Mr. San’s children and grandchildren create many jobs for the people of his hometown.

Over the years, Mr. San's family and descendants have always been at the forefront of contributing to social security work in their commune.

Every year, they mobilize businesses and philanthropists to donate hundreds of millions of dong to local charity and humanitarian activities.

Mr. San is from Dong Thinh village, Cam Thinh commune. He is a pre-uprising cadre and a 75-year Party member.

In the past, Mr. San participated in the youth work of the Viet Minh Front Committee of the commune; together with local cadres and people, he seized power in August 1945.

In 1952, he volunteered to join the army and participated in many fierce battles in the Northwest battlefield with his comrades.

Returning to his hometown, Mr. San studied at university and became a teacher at famous high schools in Ha Tinh such as Phan Dinh Phung (Ha Tinh city) and Cam Binh (Cam Xuyen).

In 1997, at old age, he and his wife followed their children and grandchildren to Binh Duong to live.

Before he passed away, Mr. San told his children and grandchildren to use all the money he saved and the funeral money to set up a scholarship fund for children in Cam Thinh commune.

After his death, San's body was transferred from Binh Duong to Ha Tinh for burial.

Fulfilling the old man's wish, on the afternoon of June 11, at the funeral in his hometown of Cam Thinh commune, the family representative gave 500 million VND from savings and condolence money to the local government.
