The "idol following" wave is exploding

In recent years, along with the concern for preserving traditional cultural values, the entertainment market has changed to suit the market economy . The "idol following" wave has exploded, meaning that the domestic entertainment market has formed a new generation of idols who have been promoted and have increased their income.

If 1-2 years ago, young fans tried to go to countries like Korea, Japan, America... to see famous people, now the Vietnamese public has strongly shifted to "following" Vietnamese idols.

Hoang Thao Van, a student of the Faculty of Accounting, University of Economics and Business Administration (Thai Nguyen University), shared: Before, I was very fond of the band Blackpink because of their large fan base and their hot popularity. When they came to Vietnam to perform, I had to hunt for tickets and dreamed that Vietnam would have bands like that. In the past 2 years, through art playgrounds such as: "Beautiful Sister, Making Wind and Waves", "Say Hi Brother", idols Hieu Thu Hai, Quang Hung MasterD, Duong Domic, Rhyder... have emerged, showing that the potential of young singers and bands in Vietnam is not inferior to other countries if properly invested.

As Hoang Thao Van affirmed, in just a short time, many singers participating in reality TV shows and music playgrounds suddenly became famous. The "older brothers" coming from playgrounds and concerts are increasingly in demand for performances, many advertising contracts, and full schedules of reality shows...

Concert - opening the way for cultural industry development

Since the beginning of August, ministries, branches, localities, and VTV have organized many key cultural and political events to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. A typical example is the art program "Fatherland in the Heart" organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper in coordination with the Hanoi People's Committee.

"Fatherland in the Heart" brings impressive musical experiences and awakens proud and sacred emotions about the Fatherland. Until now, only youth music and Kpop music concerts such as Blackpink and Say Hi Brother have been able to attract tens of thousands of spectators to the stadium. Since the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification, many revolutionary and traditional music programs have had no less appeal.

Many people watching the show were very moved when witnessing 50,000 spectators, mostly young people, singing revolutionary music at the concert "Fatherland in the Heart". Also from national music events like the above, Gen Z uses the phrase "national concert" to refer to these events and often invites each other to "go to national concerts".

Extending the effect and explosion of a top-notch music festival, Vietnam Television brought “V Concert - Radiant Vietnam” to the audience at the Vietnam Exhibition Center (Dong Anh, Hanoi). The highlight of “V Concert - Radiant Vietnam” is the participation of artists: Ha Anh Tuan, Ho Ngoc Ha, Noo Phuoc Thinh, Den, Hoa Minzy, Phuong My Chi, 2pillz... Artist Xuan Hinh is the special guest of the program.

Along with young audiences across the country, many young people in Thai Nguyen attended the program. Ms. Pham Thi Oanh in Phan Dinh Phung ward and 5 friends made an appointment to attend this program. Ms. Oanh excitedly said: Coming to "V Concert - Radiant Vietnam", along with watching famous artists perform, the audience was also satisfied both visually and aurally because many modern performance technologies were included in the program.

Following the success of “V Concert - Radiant Vietnam”, on the evening of August 10, Vietnam Television continued to organize “V Fest - Radiant Youth”. Over 25,000 audiences were immersed in the unique musical space, with popular songs in the program “V Fest - Radiant Youth”.

The three large-scale music events above attracted nearly 100,000 spectators to watch and cheer. This result shows that the cultural industry is becoming a trend and an important, sustainable component, contributing to economic growth and national brand positioning.
