Community contributes 1 billion steps with the country entering a new era

For the first time, a walking activity was held simultaneously in 34 provinces and cities with 3,321 communes, wards and administrative zones nationwide.

“Moving Forward with Vietnam” is a community activity of unprecedented scale and significance, taking place at a special moment when the whole country is entering a new stage of development, along with the rearrangement of administrative units.

Specifically, from July 25 to August 16, people nationwide can register online on the official electronic portal: cungvietnamtienbuoc.nhandan.vn and start recording their steps to contribute to the journey with the message "1 billion steps towards a new era" - a practical activity demonstrating patriotism, reducing carbon emissions and moving towards the country's Net Zero goal.

This is an initiative of Nhan Dan Newspaper in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Security to organize on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025), National Day September 2 (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and Traditional Day of the People's Public Security (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025).

Sharing at the launching ceremony on August 11, Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, Head of the Steering Committee for the "Forwarding with Vietnam" activity, said that at 6:00-7:30 a.m. on August 16, participants nationwide will wear red shirts with yellow stars, turn to the historic Ba Dinh Square to watch the national flag-raising ceremony, sing the national anthem in unison, and move forward for a united, strong and sustainable Vietnam.



In addition, each step recorded through the campaign's digital platform will become a "green step" - a small but meaningful action that contributes to reducing carbon emissions, raising awareness of environmental protection and moving towards the country's Net Zero goal.

According to Mr. Le Quoc Minh, the program is not only a simple community physical activity but also a collective action rich in political and social significance, demonstrating the determination of the entire nation to overcome difficulties together, maintain health, strengthen solidarity, and aim for sustainable development and strong integration in the new era.

With that meaning, the Ministry of Public Security has directed the Public Security of provinces and centrally-run cities to preside over and coordinate with the Resident Agencies of Nhan Dan Newspaper to advise the People's Committees of provinces and cities to simultaneously organize and launch in 34 provinces and cities with 3,321 communes, wards and administrative zones nationwide.

Not only stopping at launching, from the actual situation in the locality, the Provincial Police have directed the Police at the ward, commune and special zone levels to report to the local Party Committee and government to deploy a series of activities; combining propaganda, dissemination and legal education on topics to the masses on crime prevention (security and order, fire prevention and fighting, traffic safety, drowning prevention, drug and electronic cigarette prevention, etc.), mobilizing people to actively participate in building a mass movement to protect national security at the grassroots level, so that each step today is a solid step on the path of building and protecting the Fatherland./.
