The Lao Cai Department of Education and Training said on the morning of May 19 that the female teacher was suspended to clarify her violation of teacher standards.
The incident occurred in March but was only discovered after a clip went viral on social media on May 11. In the clip, the teacher uses a ruler to hit the student’s hands and head. The incident was determined to have taken place during class time in class 1C, Vanh school, Xuan Thuong Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, Bao Yen district.
According to the Department representative, the teacher said that due to lack of experience and pressure to improve teaching quality, she acted in an unprofessional manner, violating the ethics of the teaching profession.
