Recently, Viettel has started to commercialize 5G on a large scale. This is also the first network operator to do this in Vietnam, opening up a new and equally fierce competition in the mobile telecommunications market between network operators. Previously, when launching the 5G Viettel Network, there were more than 6,500 BTS stations, covering 100% of the capitals of 63/63 provinces and cities, industrial parks, tourist areas, seaports, airports, hospitals, universities, etc.

According to the assessment, Viettel's 5G network speed can be 10 times faster than 4G and the latency is almost zero. This network technology is deployed simultaneously on both 5G NSA and 5G SA architecture platforms.

Viettel is a leading enterprise in developing digital infrastructure, so pioneering 5G network coverage is not surprising, but Viettel's rapid steps have become a lever for other networks to be more active if they do not want to be left behind. Accordingly, VNPT/VinaPhone immediately launched a program to experience 5G services from October 13 to November 15, 2024, experience free super-fast services and send notifications to customers. Not out of the "race", MobiFone also announced to invite customers to experience 5G services from November 2024...

This exciting atmosphere opens up the prospect that Vietnam will join the group of pioneering countries in the world in widely deploying 5G networks.

According to Decision No. 1110/QD-BTTTT dated July 2, 2024 of the Ministry of Information and Communications on approving the Plan to improve the quality of Vietnam's mobile telecommunications by 2025, the goal is: Effectively deploy 5G commercialization with 100% of provinces and cities having 5G service waves. 100% of high-tech parks, concentrated information technology parks, research and development centers, innovation centers, industrial parks, international stations/seaports/airports have 5G service waves.

The effective deployment of 5G services will provide a platform for businesses and organizations to apply digital technology in the process of digital transformation of production and business activities, and at the same time be one of the positive factors promoting the digital economy, digital society, and digital government.
