Promoting revolutionary tradition

According to veteran revolutionary cadre Nguyen Van Phao, in the early days of its establishment, the district Party Committee encountered countless difficulties, both building the Party and leading the people in the resistance war against French colonialism.

“Thanks to the close direction of the Provincial Party Committee and the support of Dai Loc District Party Committee, Ben Giang District has gradually overcome difficulties, united, joined forces to fight the enemy, liberated the homeland and propagated the Party and State's policies to the people,” said Mr. Phao.

Inheriting the revolutionary tradition, Nam Giang focuses on building an increasingly strong Party. In particular, it focuses on improving the leadership capacity, fighting strength of grassroots party organizations and the quality of cadres and party members.

Building a clean and strong political system; effectively implementing Directive 05 of the Politburo on promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle in conjunction with Resolution 4 of the Central Committee (term XI, XII) on Party building and rectification.

Mr. Le Van Huong - Secretary of the District Party Committee said that the District Party Committee always pays attention to and focuses on developing new Party members. Accordingly, the number of new Party members admitted every year always meets and exceeds the set target. Up to now, the whole district has 54 Party cells and grassroots Party Committees, with 3,018 Party members. The District Party Committee has directed the Party cells and Party Committees to build models of "4-good Party Cells", "4-good Party Committees" and "Model Party Cells", creating a premise for building a strong Party Committee.

“The tasks set for the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in the district in the new period are very heavy. With the will and determination to overcome all difficulties, solidarity and creativity, the Party Committee, government, army and people of all ethnic groups in Nam Giang district are determined to strive to overcome challenges, continue to build their homeland in the new situation, becoming a bright spot in the western mountainous region of Quang Nam” - Mr. Huong said.

Development in the right direction

In recent years, the Nam Giang District Party Committee has issued Resolution No. 03 on restructuring crops and livestock and Resolution No. 11 on implementing the rapid and sustainable poverty reduction program, as a fundamental foundation for leadership and direction. Thereby creating a clear change in the rural economy of the district, increasing income and sustainably reducing poverty for the people.

Mr. Nguyen Dang Chuong - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee said that Nam Giang is currently focusing all resources on the construction of new rural areas. Accordingly, Dac Toi commune has been put into the construction of new rural areas meeting standards in the period of 2021 - 2025; according to the roadmap, Ta Bhing commune strives to meet the standards by 2024; La De and Dac Toi communes strive to meet the standards by 2025.

“Thanks to the synchronous implementation of measures, solutions and poverty reduction policies, the poverty rate has decreased annually, from 69.12% in 2011 to 35.58% by the end of 2023. Notably, in the past 3 years, the whole district has reduced more than 1,300 poor households; the average annual poverty reduction rate reached 4.46%; the quality of healthcare and education has been improved,” said Mr. Chuong.

In recent years, Nam Giang district has focused on investing in healthcare and education, thanks to which the healthcare network has always been consolidated and developed, facilities have been increasingly enhanced, reaching an average of 9.5 doctors/10,000 people, among the highest in the province; the whole district has 7/12 medical stations with doctors, accounting for 58.33%.

In the field of education, the locality focuses on improving the quality of teaching and learning, has completed universal preschool education at the right age, maintained the results of universal primary education, and universal secondary education. On average, the annual high school graduation rate reaches over 97%; to date, 17/26 schools have met national standards.

Besides, the district focuses on building the movement of cultural villages, communes, cultural agencies, cultural families, and cultural clans associated with implementing Resolution No. 07 of the District Party Committee on "Building cultural life at the grassroots level, preserving and promoting traditional cultural heritage of ethnic groups in Nam Giang district".

Traditional cultural festivals of ethnic minorities in the district are always maintained and developed. The festival "Echo of Gongs" organized by the district every 2 years has increasingly attracted a large number of tourists to visit and enjoy.
