In the training program to update knowledge for leaders and managers of the city, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai reported on the results of socio-economic development and orientations for socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City in the period of 2026-2030, to 865 leaders and managers attending the training and knowledge update class.

On September 14, at the Ho Chi Minh City Academy of Officials, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held the opening ceremony of a training program to update knowledge for leaders and managers for the 2024 target group.

Comrade Phan Van Mai, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee reported on the topic "Results of Ho Chi Minh City's socio-economic development in the 5-year period 2021-2025, orientations for Ho Chi Minh City's socio-economic development in the period 2026-2030".

In the thematic report, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee mentioned the results after 1 year of implementing Resolution 98/2023/QH15 of the National Assembly on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Ho Chi Minh City; orientation for socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City in the period of 2026-2030.

Regarding some important future traffic projects, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee informed about the Ring Road 4 project. Accordingly, this project has a total length of Ring Road 4 of about 207km, of which the section passing through Ho Chi Minh City is 3.8km.

The total estimated investment for this project is over 128,063 billion VND (estimated central budget capital is about 39,827 billion VND, local budget capital is about 30,882 billion VND. Of which, the Ring Road 4 section, for which the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee is the competent authority, is about 14,089 billion VND.

Ring Road 4 plays an important role in the socio-economic development of the provinces in the Southeast region, the Southern key economic region, and has very important inter-regional traffic connectivity in solving the circulation of goods and reducing logistics costs.

To speed up the progress of this project, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has coordinated with the Ministry of Transport and the People's Committees of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Long An provinces to agree on the need to study and propose a number of specific mechanisms and policies applicable to the entire Ring Road 4 route to submit to competent authorities for consideration.

The project to develop Ho Chi Minh City's urban railway until 2035 has been seriously, elaborately, comprehensively, cautiously, and thoroughly researched with the participation of many experts and scientists.

According to the project, by 2025, Ho Chi Minh City strives to put into operation about 183km, taking on 30-40% of the public passenger transport market share. By 2045, the city will put into operation about 168.3km, taking on 40-50% of the public passenger transport market share. By 2060, it strives to put into operation about 158.6km, taking on 50-60% of the public passenger transport market share.

The capital investment demand for developing the urban railway network in Ho Chi Minh City is about 34.8 billion USD by 2035. By 2045, it is about 26.1 billion USD; by 2060, it is about 40.6 billion USD.
