National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man meets with Armenian Prime Minister

According to VNA special correspondent, on the afternoon of April 4 local time, within the framework of his official visit to Armenia, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed his joy and honor to welcome National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly to Armenia; emphasizing that this is the first high-ranking leader of Vietnam to visit Armenia since the two countries established diplomatic relations.

The visit is of great significance, not only opening a new page for parliamentary cooperation but also creating momentum to expand bilateral cooperation in all fields, for the benefit of the people of the two countries.

Sharing his admiration and good impression of Vietnam's beauty, dynamic and sustainable development as well as warm feelings during the meeting with Vietnamese alumni who lived and studied in Armenia during his official visit to Vietnam in 2019, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed that "Vietnam is always in his heart" and for Armenia, Vietnam is always an important partner in the Southeast Asian region.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his honor to visit the beautiful country of Armenia, rich in historical and cultural traditions; thanked the leaders and people of Armenia for their warm and respectful welcome to the delegation; and believed that the visit would open a new phase for bilateral cooperation for the prosperous development of the two nations. The National Assembly Chairman respectfully conveyed the greetings of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Congratulating the important achievements that Armenia has made in recent years under the leadership and direction of the Armenian Government and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, especially in socio-economic development, improving people's lives, and affirming its position in the international arena, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized that Vietnam always attaches importance to the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Armenia; supports Armenia in strengthening cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and is ready to act as a bridge to promote Armenia's cooperation with ASEAN countries. The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam are always grateful for the valuable support that the Armenian people have given Vietnam in the struggle for national independence and in national construction and development.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man was pleased to share the results of the very successful meetings and talks with President Vahagn Khachaturyan, National Assembly Chairman Alen Simonyan as well as the outstanding results of the recent Vietnam - Armenia Business Forum to promote cooperation in development fields in each country.

The two leaders had in-depth discussions on major orientations and specific measures to promote the development of bilateral relations in the coming time; in which, they agreed to continue promoting the exchange of delegations at high and all levels, including business channels, effectively implementing existing cooperation mechanisms and agreements, bringing bilateral relations into depth and substance.

Emphasizing that economy and trade are important pillars in bilateral relations, the two leaders agreed that the potential for cooperation is still very large. Accordingly, the two sides need to further promote economic and trade cooperation, create favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to learn about each other's markets, especially for Vietnamese agricultural, aquatic and seafood products entering the Armenian market; pay attention to Armenian export products such as wine, processed foods and metals, etc.

The two sides promote cooperation in new areas such as science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), green transformation, etc.; actively and effectively implement the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to create strong and breakthrough changes in bilateral economic and trade cooperation; create favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to exchange, explore investment opportunities, establish cooperative relations and penetrate each other's markets.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested that Armenia discuss with member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union to effectively exploit the Free Trade Agreement with Vietnam, removing technical barriers so that goods from both sides can easily access each other's markets.

Emphasizing the importance of the fields of transportation, education, culture, people-to-people exchange and local connectivity, the two leaders agreed to strengthen transportation and multimodal transport connections to promote tourism, import and export between the two countries and countries in Asia and Europe; continue to discuss and agree on granting scholarships for exchange students between the two countries, strengthen cooperation in training high-tech human resources; continue to organize regular cultural exchange activities.

At the same time, it is recommended that relevant agencies of both sides consider preferential visa policies to facilitate citizens and businesses of both countries to travel, learn about each other's cultures, experience each other's destinations and implement cooperation plans and projects.

Regarding multilateral and regional cooperation, the two leaders emphasized that they will continue to coordinate closely at international and regional forums. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man asked Armenia to support the stance of ASEAN and Vietnam on the East Sea issue, and to resolve disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law, the United Nations Charter, and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

The Prime Minister of Armenia respectfully invited Vietnam to send a high-level representative to attend the 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 17) in 2026.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister of Armenia respectfully requested the National Assembly Chairman to convey an invitation to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to pay an official visit to Armenia soon. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also respectfully conveyed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's invitation to the Armenian Prime Minister to visit Vietnam again at a suitable time.
