National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man was pleased to meet Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko and Belarusian parliamentarians on the occasion of attending the 45th AIPA General Assembly.

The National Assembly Chairman congratulated Belarus on successfully organizing the House of Representatives elections in February 2024 and on Mr. Igor Sergeyenko being elected as Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus; he expressed his belief that the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus will be successful in his new position, making positive contributions to Vietnam-Belarus relations.

The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that Vietnam always attaches importance to the traditional friendship and cooperation with Belarus, which has been nurtured by the leaders and people of the two countries over the past 30 years. Vietnam always considers Belarus a friend and reliable partner and wishes to strengthen cooperation with Belarus. The Vietnamese people always remember the great support and valuable assistance that Belarus has given Vietnam in the past struggle for national liberation as well as in the cause of national construction and development today.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus once again sent condolences on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus agreed with the opinion of the Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, and at the same time stated that, with the foundation of a traditional relationship of trust, Belarus always attaches importance to developing cooperation in all fields with Vietnam.

On this occasion, Chairman of the National Assembly Igor Sergeyenko respectfully conveyed the invitation of the President of Belarus to General Secretary and President To Lam to soon visit Belarus; and respectfully invited Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man to visit Belarus.

Informing that the Belarusian National Assembly Delegation attended the 45th AIPA General Assembly as an AIPA Observer, Mr. Igor Sergeyenko hoped that Vietnam would support promoting cooperation between Belarus and ASEAN.

Regarding strengthening parliamentary cooperation, the Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus hopes that the two sides should promote cooperation on the parliamentary friendship channel and suggest that this form should be soon implemented through online exchanges.

At the meeting, on behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man sincerely thanked the Belarusian National Assembly for sending a delegation led by the Vice Chairman of the Council of the Republic (Senate) to attend the State Funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong last July; and at the same time sympathized with the Party, State and people of Vietnam for the heavy losses caused by storm No. 3 (Yagi).

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully thanked the Chairman of the Belarusian House of Representatives for the invitation to visit Belarus and said he would arrange to visit Belarus at an appropriate time.

The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge to promote cooperation between Belarus and ASEAN.

Appreciating the establishment of a new Working Group on Cooperation between the Belarusian House of Representatives and the Vietnamese National Assembly by the National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, he believed that close coordination between the two groups would help promote the exchange of legislative experience and enhance mutual understanding of the operating mechanisms of each country's legislative bodies; he suggested that the two groups soon have discussions, meetings and develop specific action plans in the coming time.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully invited Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko to pay an official visit to Vietnam, thereby further tightening and strengthening the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries' National Assemblies.
