TPO - On the morning of September 19, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son sent a telegram to the Directors of the Departments of Education and Training of many provinces and cities about proactively responding to the tropical depression, which is likely to strengthen into a storm.

Telegram sent to the Directors of the Departments of Education and Training of the following provinces and cities: Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the morning of September 19, the tropical depression crossed Ludong Island (Philippines) into the eastern sea of ​​the northern East Sea. At 10:00 a.m. this morning, the center of the tropical depression was at about 16.9 degrees North latitude, 119.9 degrees East longitude, the strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 7, gusting to level 9.

The tropical depression is forecast to move westward at a speed of 20km/h towards the Hoang Sa archipelago and is likely to strengthen into a storm in the next 24 hours; the storm may directly affect the sea and mainland of our country, causing strong gusts of wind and heavy rain in the Central Central and North Central regions in the coming days.

Storm No. 3 caused heavy damage to the Education sector.

To be proactive and flexible in responding to the storm, ensuring absolute safety for students, teachers and staff in the education sector, the Minister requested the above Departments to closely monitor the storm's developments; be on duty 24/7; regularly update information from functional agencies, rescue forces and local authorities to have timely response plans.

Develop a plan to move assets, machinery, equipment, and furniture to a safe location, ensuring that they are not damaged or broken. Ensure that schools and educational institutions do not organize extracurricular activities in coastal areas and areas at risk of being affected by storms.

The Minister requested the Departments of Education and Training to consider allowing students to take time off from school when necessary, especially in areas vulnerable to storms and floods. Ensure that information about school schedules and student safety is fully communicated to parents.

Immediately after the storm, organize cleaning of schools, repair damage to facilities, ensure safety and hygiene before welcoming students back to school.

Previously, storm No. 3 caused severe damage to school facilities, teaching equipment and human resources in the localities.
