The Investigation Police Agency of Binh Duong Province announced today that it has issued a decision to prosecute the accused and a ban on leaving the place of residence to Tran Van Hoang Giang (born in 1987, from Binh Phuoc, residing in Thu Dau Mot City) to investigate the act of "causing environmental pollution".
According to initial investigation, Giang is the owner of the branch of Hoang Giang Environmental Engineering Company Limited (in Lai Hung commune, Bau Bang district).
During his operations, Giang allowed others to dump and bury more than 2.2 million kg of industrial waste in a land area of thousands of square meters in the company, for profit.
By professional measures, the police force identified the location of the illegal waste landfill and proceeded to inspect it.
Upon inspection, authorities discovered industrial waste buried in a sprawling area of thousands of square meters. The area was surrounded by corrugated iron sheets and located between rubber plantations.
Determining that Giang's behavior had signs of causing environmental pollution, the investigation agency initiated a case and prosecuted the defendant.
Previously, in August 2022, the Environmental Crime Prevention Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) coordinated with the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to inspect the waste treatment site of Tra Vinh Environment One Member Co., Ltd. (Tan Long commune, Phu Giao district), discovering that this enterprise illegally buried a large amount of waste such as coal slag, fly ash, coffee grounds, packaging, chemical drums, oil-contaminated packaging, glass, etc.
All of this waste was buried by the enterprise in a landfill area of about 28,000 square meters, located next to Cau stream connecting to Be river.
