Talking with Mr. Dinh Van Son, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Muong Ang district, he said: In 2024, the district's economic structure will continue to shift in a positive direction, gradually reducing the proportion of the Agriculture - Forestry sector and gradually increasing the proportion of the Industry - Service sector. The cultivation sector has shifted the structure of crops and seasons towards commodity production in accordance with the natural, economic and social conditions of the locality. The productivity of crops has increased due to the application of new advances in varieties and intensive farming techniques. Crop products have basically ensured the demand for food in the district.

Many communes of the district have met new rural standards.

Up to now, 100% of communes have car roads to the commune center, accessible all year round; nearly 130km of intra-village and inter-village roads have been hardened with concrete. 100% of communes have telecommunications coverage, 100% of communes have national grid electricity, 96% of villages have electricity and 97.1% of households have access to grid electricity. 100% of medical stations have infrastructure that meets the regulations of the Ministry of Health, 100% of households in towns have access to clean water, 98% of households in rural areas have access to hygienic water. The poverty rate in the district has decreased from 30.85% at the end of 2019 to 22.13% at the end of 2023. The above results are due to significant contributions from ethnic policies from national target programs. Mr. Dinh Van Son affirmed.

The lives of ethnic minorities in the district are changing day by day, many welfare projects serving the people are being invested in and built.

Implementing the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2030 Period; Phase I: from 2021 to 2025 according to Decision No. 1719/QD-TTg dated October 14, 2021 of the Prime Minister, Muong Ang has organized the implementation of the contents of 8/10 projects under the Program.

The district has provided decentralized domestic water support by 2023 with 202 water tanks for 202 poor households; in 2024, it will provide decentralized domestic water support to more than 800 poor households and carry out the third phase of distribution to more than 500 poor households. Muong Ang has also supported the construction of new houses: 252/262 households. The households supported with housing and water tanks have been truly assured, developed their economy, and gradually stabilized their lives.

Livelihood support models are gradually showing effectiveness in poverty reduction.

The district has organized 05 ethnic knowledge training courses for 387 trainees in group 3: Heads and Deputy Heads of agencies, departments, branches, district unions, socio-political organizations; Secretaries, Deputy Secretaries of Party Committees, Chairmen, Vice Chairmen of People's Councils, Chairmen, Vice Chairmen of People's Committees of communes and towns...

In particular, through the capital of the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development for Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas since 2021, the district has invested in the construction of 72 works (including 22 traffic works, 13 schools, 19 cultural houses, 7 domestic water works and 11 irrigation works); maintaining and repairing 30 works in communes and towns.

Propaganda work on ethnic policies is always of interest to the district.

Since the beginning of the term, the district has had 10 projects to diversify livelihoods and develop poverty reduction models linked to the chain, with 529 poor, near-poor and newly escaped-poverty households benefiting; the project to develop vocational education and sustainable employment has supported 430 workers with short-term vocational training to meet their needs; 33 workers have been supported with training and working abroad, and more than 45,000 people have been trained in professional skills and collected information on labor needs...

Over 90% of ethnic minorities in the district have access to the national grid.

Assessing the overall results of the implementation of the programs from the beginning of 2021 to present, Mr. Dinh Van Son, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Muong Ang district affirmed: The projects and sub-projects of the programs that have been and are being implemented in the district, along with other programs and policies, have helped the infrastructure of the district and communes to be gradually completed; the socio-economy has developed in a positive and effective direction... contributing to solving difficulties in the material and spiritual life of the people of all ethnic groups, thereby strengthening the people's trust in the leadership of the Party and State, affirming the strong solidarity bloc between ethnic groups, between the people and local Party committees and authorities./.
