Sharing experiences in improving the quality of teaching and learning English in the education system

Speaking at the forum, Dr. Ta Ngoc Tri, Deputy Director of the General Education Department (Ministry of Education and Training) emphasized that making English the second language in the national education system is a major policy of strategic significance, closely linked to the National Project "Making English the second language in schools", a key content in Conclusion No. 91-KL/TW of the Politburo on fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training.

“The efforts of the Ministry of Education and Training have been materialized through a series of practical projects, programs and action plans, aiming to synchronize solutions from policy development, curriculum innovation, teacher training, to improving teaching methods and assessing foreign language proficiency.

To realize that goal, the work of training and developing the teaching staff plays a key role. The forum is a valuable opportunity for managers, experts, and lecturers to share many new ideas, suggest practical directions, and contribute to making English truly become the second language in Vietnamese schools," Dr. Ta Ngoc Tri affirmed.

Delegates listened to experts present a number of contents such as: "The role of foreign language training in making English a second language"; "International perspectives and research on professional development for teachers in the English as a second language teaching program"; "Some solutions to promote the roadmap to make English a second language in the national education system"...

The forum also shared international perspectives, practical experiences, opportunities and challenges in implementation, and proposed feasible solutions to improve staff capacity, promote the role of universities, education and English training departments...
