Early disease screening

On the morning of August 21, the City Labor Federation coordinated with Hanoi - Hai Phong Eye Hospital to provide free eye screening for 200 union members and employees of Hai Phong Urban Environment One Member Co., Ltd. This is a concrete activity to realize the cooperation agreement signed between the two units from May 2025.

At the program, workers had their eyesight checked, were given advice on eye disease treatment, and received gifts of eye supplements and eye care medicine. Hanoi - Hai Phong Eye Hospital committed to a 50% discount on specialized examination packages and was ready to arrange doctors to come to agencies and businesses when there was a need to examine a large number of union members. This helped workers save time and travel costs, and feel more secure when receiving health care at the workplace.

Mr. Nguyen Van The, a worker at Hai Phong Urban Environment One Member Co., Ltd., said that in his 26 years of working, the company's union has organized a general health check-up for him every year, but this is the first time he has had an eye specialist screening. He hopes to completely treat the symptoms of pain, fatigue, and watery eyes so that they do not affect his work and daily life.

Comrade Nguyen Van Phiet, Vice Chairman of the City Labor Federation, informed that according to the cooperation agreement, Hanoi - Hai Phong Eye Hospital donated 350,000 basic eye examination packages, worth 300,000 VND/package to union members throughout the city. In the coming time, the program will continue to be expanded, targeting more than 250,000 union members in the West Hai Phong area, ensuring that all workers and laborers in the city have the opportunity to access quality eye examination services.

Together with the City Trade Union, grassroots trade unions have also proactively implemented health care activities for union members and workers. The Hung Dao Ward Trade Union, in coordination with the Vietnam Biochemical Technology Joint Stock Company and the Air Defense - Air Force Medical Institute, has just organized free health check-ups for more than 2,000 union members and workers.

At Minh Thanh Garment Export Company, union members enjoy a medical examination package worth 1.65 million VND/person, including: abdominal ultrasound, thyroid ultrasound, osteoporosis screening, blood sugar test, colon cancer screening, digestive tract cancer screening... Doctors directly advise on nutrition, rest, and exercise to maintain long-term health.

With the increasing trend of occupational diseases and chronic diseases in the workforce, comprehensive health care programs help workers screen for diseases early and protect their health from the root.

Continue to diversify

According to comrade Pham Thi Xuan Quyen, Director of the Center for Legal Advice and Support for Workers (City Labor Federation), in addition to taking care of the material and spiritual life, Hai Phong Labor Union focuses on solutions to improve the health of union members. Since the beginning of 2025, the City Labor Federation has organized many programs to promote health care for union members and workers; coordinated with Green International Hospital to organize 27 free health examination and consultation programs for nearly 5,000 union members and workers.

A notable innovation is that the City Labor Federation has put into operation a Health Care Consulting branch on the 24/7 online consultation hotline for union members and workers 1800888864 since May 2025. By simply calling, union members and workers can receive advice and answers to questions about health issues, occupational diseases, nutrition, and training methods to improve physical fitness. Since its operation, the hotline has received 72 calls, reflecting the needs of workers for remote health care services.

In parallel, the City Labor Federation also produced 8 video clips providing basic health care instructions, broadcast on digital platforms. The content of the clips is concise and easy to understand, helping union members quickly access practical medical knowledge, from how to prevent occupational diseases, seasonal diseases, to physical exercise habits.

Not only focusing on disease prevention, the City Trade Union also deployed the installation of 100 union physical training points in industrial parks, dormitories, and public sports fields. Each point costs 150 million VND, installing a fixed exercise machine system, serving workers free of charge after work. This is a long-term step, helping to form the habit of exercising in the worker community, improving health and uniting the collective.

In the coming time, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation will strengthen communication to change awareness, organize seminars and talks on occupational disease prevention, proper nutrition, and mental care for workers, helping them proactively protect their health. On the other hand, the City Labor Federation will expand its network of medical partners to implement comprehensive screening for union members; promote digitalization of health care services through the application (App) "Huong Cong - Hai Phong Labor Union", advise and guide workers to connect with doctors online, integrate electronic health records, and remind them of regular check-ups.
