Nguyen Hai Dang (AlexD), a familiar name in the education community with an English teaching channel with nearly 1 million followers, is famous for his ability to teach his daughter - Nguyen Phuong An (Nam, 8 years old) - to be fluent in English from a young age. However, behind that success, AlexD always asks himself whether the way he raised his child has really helped her have a complete childhood.

Accompanying Father and Son, thousands of miles, AlexD had the opportunity to experience with his daughter the everyday moments that he had previously unintentionally missed with her. He confided: “I was born in the fields, and as a child I had a lot of time to run and play outside. But when I grew up and moved to urban life, I became the one who overprotected my daughter. Looking back now, she really wanted and deserved to experience like other children, which I should have done a long time ago.”

During this trip, Nam and his father recorded many things for the first time. This was the first time Nam and his father communicated with each other completely in Vietnamese. Previously, at home, with the habit of teaching children from a young age, the family lived with the principle that AlexD's father would communicate with Nam completely in English and Nam's mother in Vietnamese.

For the first time, Nam revealed bright sides that her father had never seen before. Nam really enjoyed the activities here, learning about baking, competing in baking with her father and winning, playing with animals, making leaf trumpets, playing soccer,... while in the city, she only had friends she knew. AlexD's father was also surprised by his daughter's dexterity and agility when making cakes by herself.

I have rarely given my child the power to do anything, but I was really surprised when I let him make cakes and he was very skillful and did them very quickly. And it is true that there are times when I have to step back and look at my child from a completely different perspective, let him do new things to see his changes and strengths. Only after giving birth can I understand him, have the opportunity to connect and understand him better in his journey of becoming a father," AlexD confided.

And this was also the first time Nam washed the dishes himself. With the experience of attending a boarding class for young people in the highlands, cooking together and helping the boarding students taught Nam independence and profound lessons. The first time washing the dishes himself, Nam showed agility and responsibility, something that AlexD's father had never seen before.

The final destination of the 3 days and 2 nights in Binh Lieu is the 1927 milestone with a challenging climbing journey. Although very tired, Nam still persevered to conquer the goal with his father. The moment when father and son reached the top of the hill together, together under the sunset, singing the lyrics "nothing gonna change my love for you" sharing the joy of victory, is the clearest proof of the close relationship and deep understanding between father and son.
