Can Tho merges and renames many hospitals, establishes regional hospitals

On August 1, a source from Tuoi Tre Online said that Director of Can Tho Department of Health Hoang Quoc Cuong had just signed a document to send to affiliated units about "urgently developing a project to reorganize the apparatus".

Accordingly, the Can Tho Center for Disease Control (old) was merged with the Center for Disease Control of Hau Giang and Soc Trang provinces to form the Can Tho Center for Disease Control.

Merge Can Tho Drug, Cosmetic and Food Testing Center (old) with Soc Trang Province Drug, Cosmetic and Food Testing Center and Hau Giang Province Testing Center into Can Tho Drug, Cosmetic and Food Testing Center.

Merge Can Tho Medical Assessment Center (old) with Soc Trang and Hau Giang Province Medical Assessment Centers into Can Tho Medical Assessment Center.

Merge Can Tho Forensic Center (old) with Soc Trang and Hau Giang Province Forensic Centers into Can Tho Forensic Center.

Merge Can Tho Social Work Center (old), Can Tho Social Protection Center (old) with Hau Giang Provincial Social Work Center, Soc Trang Provincial Social Protection Center into Can Tho Social Work Center.

Merge Long Phu Regional Medical Center and Tran De Regional Medical Center (belonging to Long Phu district and Tran De district, old Soc Trang province) into Long Phu Regional Medical Center (new).

Merge Soc Trang Regional Medical Center and Chau Thanh Regional Medical Center (belonging to the old Soc Trang province) into Soc Trang Regional Medical Center (new).

Rename Can Tho Tuberculosis and Lung Hospital to Can Tho Lung Hospital.

The Department of Health requires assigned units to synthesize and preside over the development of the merger project (mostly units under the old Can Tho) to submit documents to the department before August 4 for synthesis and submission to competent authorities according to regulations.

Previously, at a press conference held on July 30, answering questions from the press about whether to establish branches and facilities in Soc Trang and Hau Giang or not because many agencies and units are currently operating independently, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Nguyen Van Hoa affirmed that "not returning (to Can Tho) does not mean not returning".

According to Mr. Hoa, Can Tho will merge administrative units first, then the public service units under the departments and branches. The general direction is to concentrate on Can Tho city, not to establish bases in Hau Giang and Soc Trang.
