Da Nang's Western Belt Road 2 is designed to be 14.3km long, but only 4km has been completed. In the near future, Da Nang will continue to invest in the section from Road No. 8, Hoa Khanh Industrial Park to Hoang Van Thai Street.
The Western Ring Road 2, passing through Cam Le, Lien Chieu and Hoa Vang districts (Da Nang), was invested with a total capital of more than 1,400 billion VND. This is an important route, connecting with the city's ring road traffic axes.
The project started in December 2019, however, due to some issues related to investment capital, it could not be implemented as originally planned.
Therefore, the project only focuses on completing the 4.6km section from Road No. 8 of Hoa Khanh Industrial Park to Nam Hai Van bypass.
The above road section was inaugurated and put into use on January 30.
According to the reporter's records, the completed road has a median strip, lighting system, wide road surface, and convenient traffic.
The newly inaugurated Western Ring Road 2 has not yet been equipped with street name signs.
However, when reaching the intersection with Road No. 8 of Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, the road suddenly "cut off".
The reason for this situation is that the OPEC funding has expired, so construction must be temporarily suspended.
To resolve this situation, the People's Committee of Da Nang City has agreed on a plan to adjust the route according to the proposal of the Department of Transport and assigned the Da Nang Priority Infrastructure Management Board to coordinate with the People's Committees of Lien Chieu, Cam Le, Hoa Vang districts and relevant units to estimate the cost of site clearance and construction investment costs.
Up to now, the plan to prepare investment capital for the Western Belt Road 2 project (section from Road No. 8, Hoa Khanh Industrial Park to Hoang Van Thai Street) has been allocated investment preparation capital by the People's Committee of Da Nang City.
It is expected that from now until 2027, the section from Road No. 8 of Hoa Khanh Industrial Park to Hoang Van Thai Street will be fully invested and put into operation. The section from Hoang Van Thai to Nam Ky Khoi Nghia will be completed and put into operation in 2030.
