Regarding the case of staff and lecturers of Quang Nam Medical College collectively stopping work due to prolonged unpaid wages, Mr. Huynh Tan Tuan - Principal of the school - said that all employees of the school have returned to work.

According to Mr. Tuan, recently, the school has spent 1.2 billion VND to pay 1 month's salary and 3 months of social insurance for staff and lecturers.

Meanwhile, on January 4, a lecturer working at Quang Nam Medical College confirmed that the school had paid the salary for July 2023 and called on the lecturer to continue teaching, waiting for the superiors to have a plan to resolve the remaining 5 months of salary debt.

"Receiving my salary, I feel happy because I have some money to cover expenses. My colleagues and I are hoping that the school will soon pay the remaining months of salary debt, and at the same time have a long-term plan so that staff and lecturers can work with peace of mind" - this lecturer shared more.

It is known that on January 2, the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, departments, branches and Quang Nam Medical College had a meeting to find solutions to existing problems at this unit.

According to the leader of Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, the plan is currently being submitted to the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee to agree on a final solution for the case.

Previously, on December 14, 2023, 17 officers and lecturers working at the Nursing Department and the Basic Health Department of Quang Nam Medical College announced that they would stop working from December 18, 2023.

The reason for the collective decision to stop working is because the school has not paid their salaries and allowances for 6 months (from July 2023 to present). The Nursing and Basic Health Departments met and agreed to stop working until the school resolved the salary and allowance regime.

Not only the staff and lecturers of the Nursing and Basic Health Departments, Quang Nam Medical College currently owes 6 months of salary to 114 employees, totaling more than 5.7 billion VND. In addition to salary arrears, the school has also been late in paying insurance for many months.

As of December 18, 2023, 2 lecturers of the Faculty of Basic Medicine stopped teaching, causing 30 students to have to drop out of school.
