Visual Intelligence is essentially a smart technology that helps the iPhone camera recognize and analyze objects in the frame. Users just need to hold down Camera Control to activate this mode.

When turned on, the camera will automatically recognize objects in front of the lens such as restaurants, products, event posters... and provide relevant information or appropriate action options.

When you hover your camera over a restaurant, Visual Intelligence will display details about the restaurant, such as its address, menu, opening hours, and user reviews. Similarly, when you scan a poster, the feature will provide links to buy tickets, event information, or the option to save your information.

Apple not only developed Visual Intelligence itself based on proprietary technologies, but also collaborated with OpenAI and Google to expand the capabilities of this feature. This helps increase the amount of information that users can access when using the camera app, ensuring that this feature goes beyond image recognition and can provide diverse and rich information from reputable data sources.

Apple is expected to launch Visual Intelligence on the iPhone 16 later this year, possibly coinciding with the iOS 18.2 update. iOS 18.2 is scheduled to be the last major update in 2024.
