According to Ms. Hang, the victory on April 30, 1975 was a victory of conscience and justice, not only ending the suffering of the Vietnamese people but also of many Americans. The past years have witnessed the great efforts of many generations of Vietnamese and American people to develop the relationship between the two countries as it is today.
The 50th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) is to honor the immortal values of forgiveness and the spirit of putting the past behind and moving towards the future. From former enemies, Vietnam and the US established diplomatic relations in 1995, established a comprehensive partnership in 2013 and upgraded the relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership in September 2023, the spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.
The continued strong development of Vietnam-US relations is in line with the common aspirations of the people of the two countries, contributing to peace, stability, prosperity and development in the region and the world.
Also at the press conference, answering reporters' questions regarding the participation of leaders of the Chinese, Lao and Cambodian Ministries of Defense and military units of the three countries in the upcoming April 30 parade, the spokesperson emphasized that the participation of Laos, Cambodia and China in this anniversary demonstrates solidarity among countries in the region.
"The 50th anniversary of national reunification is an extremely important event, not only for Vietnam but also for international friends who have accompanied and helped Vietnam gain independence and national reunification. China, Laos, and Cambodia are three countries with good traditional friendship and long-standing ties with Vietnam," Ms. Hang stated.
The spokesperson added that so far, the event has received the participation of representatives from many high-ranking delegations, political parties, associations, international organizations, peace movements, and anti-war movements around the world, as well as many countries, including the United States.
