A representative of the 108 Central Military Hospital said that taking advantage of the strong development of social networks, especially Facebook, recently, a series of fake fanpages impersonating the 108 Central Military Hospital have appeared to approach people to sell poor quality medicine and medical services, harming people's health and negatively affecting the hospital's reputation.

Notably, the scammers have been constantly “upgrading” their methods; from creating ambiguous fake page names that can easily cause misunderstandings such as “Hospital 108”, “Military Hospital 108”, “Military Hospital 108”… to illegally copying and posting articles, logos, and slogans on the official fanpage of the 108 Central Military Hospital. The scammers even painstakingly cut and pasted images and videos of the hospital on mass media channels and dubbed product advertisements to create prestige, making it easier to scam.

Pages impersonating 108 Military Central Hospital are growing more and more.

On the fake pages, the subjects posted articles focusing on topics of interest to many people such as: "Cure diabetes completely without recurrence with just 1 course of treatment"; "medicine for treating gray hair, melasma, beauty products tested by Institute 108"; "doctor with more than 15 years of experience in the cosmetic industry directly performs"... From those attractive advertisements, many people were curious to register to buy the medicine and were sold "fake", poor quality medicine at... sky-high prices?!?

Not only impersonating hospitals and hospital departments, another trick is that fake pages also impersonate hospital doctors to increase trust with people. The subjects often post articles claiming to invite doctors from the 108 Military Central Hospital to their facility to examine patients or directly contact and introduce themselves as doctors and nurses of the department where the patient has just been discharged to offer home patient care services such as: physical therapy care, dressing changes, maternity care, postpartum care for mothers and babies, testing, injections, infusions...

The subjects also used the trick of forging invitations from the 108 Central Military Hospital to defraud and sell drugs and functional foods.

In some cases, the subject even impersonated a hospital doctor to propagate false medical treatment views: Some illnesses only need to apply "natural healing therapies" in a certain book, without the need for modern medical methods.

In addition to using fake social networking sites, many subjects also solicit and invite patients and their relatives to go to the clinic of the 108 Central Military Hospital for examination. In particular, there was a subject who set up a group of people impersonating the working delegation of the 108 Central Military Hospital to go to the clinic for examination, health consultation, pharmaceutical advertising, and organize tours combined with medical examination and treatment in the northern provinces.

The subjects also created fake pages of doctors from 108 Military Central Hospital to deceive patients.

To prevent bad guys from taking advantage, people need to be vigilant and pay attention to the following information: 108 Central Military Hospital does not provide, cooperate in business, or test any pharmaceutical products or functional foods online, and only sells drugs with a doctor's prescription at pharmacies on the hospital campus. The hospital has not yet implemented home examination and treatment services.

The official information portal of the Hospital is www.benhvien108.vn, the official Fanpage is "108 Central Military Hospital" with a blue tick of confirmation from Facebook.

The hospital has only one address: No. 1 Tran Hung Dao Street, Bach Dang Ward, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi City. Phone: 096.775.16.16 or 1900.98.68.69
