Not long ago, many users posted on forums and social networks about the iPhone 14 series battery quickly deteriorating after a short period of use. The phenomenon of reduced storage capacity (deterioration) during use is normal for Lithium-ion technology batteries, but what attracted attention were the allegations that the quality of the battery that came with the device was worse than previous generations.
Recently, a source of information leaked on X has revealed the cause of the above phenomenon. According to the account owner @RGcloudS, Apple is using cheap batteries with lower charging cycles on all models of the iPhone 14 series and even the newly launched iPhone 15 series (when compared to previous models). Specifically, the maximum number of charging cycles of the battery on the 2 newly launched series is only about 600, while the iPhone 13 series and earlier is 800 times.
Many people think that the iPhone 14 series battery has a "problem"
Although @RGcloudS did not provide specific evidence, the above information still caused a stir in the community because this person had many times leaked accurate news before the official announcement.
Phone Arena believes that the iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max are the first Apple devices equipped with an always-on display (AOD), which has increased the impact on the battery. In addition, the screen of this model is nearly twice as bright as the iPhone 13 Pro. However, users' feedback on the battery quality of the iPhone 14 series cannot be ignored when in fact, previous years have shown that the capacity loss occurs very slowly and is only most clearly noticed after a few years of using the device. With the iPhone 14 series, the time is calculated in months.
Apple announced that the iPhone battery is calculated to have at least 80% of its design capacity remaining after 500 full charges (the total charge capacity between 100% counts as 1 full charge). On the new generation of iPhone and iOS, the company also provides the Optimized Charging feature to improve battery life. Within 12 months of purchasing the device, if the battery falls below 80% of its design capacity, the company will replace the device with a new battery for free.
