Hue City students delay school start date due to storm No. 5

Due to the impact of storm No. 5 (international name Kajiki), instead of returning to school on August 25 as scheduled, students of all levels in Hue City will postpone the school year to August 28 to ensure safety.

On August 24, due to the complicated developments of storm No. 5 (international name: storm Kajiki), the Department of Education and Training of Hue City has just issued an urgent document announcing the adjustment of the gathering time of students.

The document clearly states that this adjustment is to comply with the telegram of the Prime Minister and the People's Committee of Hue City on the prevention of storm No. 5. The Department of Education and Training of Hue City requires schools to proactively monitor forecast information and deploy response measures with the motto "four on-site".

Educational facilities must ensure absolute safety for students and teachers, and not be passive in the face of the storm’s unexpected developments. After the storm has passed, schools must clean up and prepare the best conditions to welcome students back to school on August 28.

According to records, on the morning of August 24, teachers at a number of schools in Hue City proactively gathered, reinforced facilities, and trimmed trees to minimize damage caused by storm No. 5.

By noon on August 24, heavy rain and light winds were reported in many places in Hue City. Authorities and local residents were urgently securing houses, cutting rice, and anchoring boats...

According to the forecast, due to the influence of storm No. 5, inland Hue City will have moderate rain, heavy rain, some places will have very heavy rain and thunderstorms; during thunderstorms, be on guard against tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Total rainfall is generally 100 - 200 mm, some places over 350 mm. Winds will gradually increase to level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7 - 8; coastal areas level 6 - 7, gusting to level 8 - 10.

In addition, from the night of August 26 to 28, Hue City will continue to have rain, scattered moderate rain, some places will have heavy rain with the amount of 50 - 100 mm, some places will have over 150 mm. From August 29, the rain will decrease rapidly and end. Warning level of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain: level 1.

From August 24, the sea area of ​​Hue City will have storms and rain. The wind will gradually increase to level 6 - 7, then increase to level 8 - 9, near the center of the storm will be level 10 - 11, gusting to level 13. The sea will be rough; waves will be 4 - 6 m high. All ships operating in the sea areas from latitude 15 degrees north and above will be affected by storms, strong winds, big waves, and are at risk of being destroyed or sunk, including large cargo ships. From August 26, the wind in the sea areas will gradually decrease.
