According to the Vietnamese Embassy in France, on September 27, French police discovered 6 women, 4 of whom are believed to be Vietnamese citizens, in a refrigerated truck in Rhone, Lyon, France.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Vietnamese Embassy in France promptly contacted local authorities to verify the information and requested assistance in implementing citizen protection measures. Initial information shows that these four people are currently in stable health condition. The case is currently under investigation.

Following the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnamese Embassy in France will continue to closely monitor the case and deploy necessary citizen protection measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens.

Earlier, the BBC reported that a group of four Vietnamese and two Iraqi women hid for hours in a refrigerated truck in northern France, believing it was on its way to Britain or Ireland. The group was rescued by French police on September 28.

The incident was discovered when the group realized the lorry was going in the wrong direction, they began to panic in the dark, narrow and cold space, and tried to contact the BBC reporter in London. The reporter then reported it to the police.

The truck driver was found not guilty by French officials because the group of people had boarded the vehicle thinking it was going to England, while the driver was driving the vehicle towards Italy.
