The trial of the case of "organizing and brokering for others to flee abroad or stay abroad illegally" took place in Ho Chi Minh City recently, the story of workers falling into the trap of easy jobs with high salaries "heated up" again.

According to the case file, Pham Hong Nhac (26 years old, from Lam Dong) was sentenced to 9 months in prison when he was only 18 years old for "Fraudulent appropriation of property". In 2018, Nhac continued to be administratively punished by the Da Teh District Police (Lam Dong) for disturbing public order.

In March 2022, Nhac returned to Ho Chi Minh City to work as a busboy, living as husband and wife with Hoang Thi Thao (29 years old, from Lam Dong). While working, Nhac was asked by a woman named Mai (a passenger, unknown background) to find someone to take him to Cambodia to work in casinos with a salary of 20 to 30 million VND/month.

For each person successfully brought to Cambodia, Nhac was paid 5 million VND by Mai. Mai gave the phone number of a man named Hung (also known as Lao Dai, Soi Dem) to Nhac to contact when there was "prey".

Seeing a lucrative business opportunity, Nhac immediately accepted the offer and invited his "wife" and Tran Hoai Thuong (23 years old, from Ho Chi Minh City) to plan a search for someone in need.

In just a few months, with the effective help of his lover and Thuong, Nhac was able to smuggle 7 people to Cambodia to work and received 30 million VND. Among them were Mr. Le Phat T. and Ms. Huynh Phan Thanh T.

Specifically, on May 21, 2022, 3 subjects lured Mr. T. and Ms. T. to Cambodia to work with high salaries. With the consent of these 2 people, Nhac immediately called Lao Dai to pick up Mr. T. and some people to go to Cambodia through illegal routes.

Upon arrival, Mr. T. and some fellow countrymen were taken to a casino owned by Chinese people. Here, Mr. T. was assigned by the manager named Dai Hi to do online fraud with a salary of 600 USD in the first month, 200 USD in the following months and 10% of the revenue.

After 2 months of working, Mr. T. realized that the job was not suitable, he was often beaten, electrocuted, threatened, and forced to work, so he expressed his desire to return to Vietnam. The company agreed on the condition that he had to pay 130 million VND in compensation.

On July 25, 2022, Tai called his father, Mr. G., for help, informing him that the ransom was 130 million VND. After investigating, Mr. G. asked the "Street Hai" knight group for help. Hai introduced Mr. G. to a man named Pham Van Hung. After reaching an agreement, Mr. T.'s father agreed to transfer nearly 200 million VND to Hung to ransom the person.

After receiving the money, the company took Mr. T. to a hotel in Cambodia and sent photos and location to Hung. Upon receiving the information, Hung asked T. to stay at the hotel and sent a car to pick him up and take him back to Vietnam via an illegal route.

On August 1, 2022, Hung brought Mr. T. back to Vietnam and handed him over to Mr. G. After returning home, the victim reported the actions of Nhac's group. Ho Chi Minh City police quickly intervened and temporarily detained Thao, Thuong and Nhac.

At court, Pham Hong Nhac was sentenced to 7 years in prison, Tran Hoai Thuong to 6 years in prison and Hoang Thi Thao to 5 years in prison.

During the investigation, authorities determined that "knight" Nguyen Thanh Hai had entered and exited the country 40 times (the last time on January 16, 2022) and had not been administratively punished, so there was not enough criminal basis for the crime of "Violating regulations on exit and entry".

In addition, a man named Hung received money to bring Mr. T. back to Vietnam through illegal means, but the investigation results so far are unclear.

Therefore, there is no basis to determine whether these people are involved in organizing others to flee abroad or stay abroad illegally. Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department of Security Investigation continues to investigate and clarify.

As for the man named Hung (Old Man) and the woman named Mai, whose backgrounds have not been verified, authorities continue to investigate and search.
