10 people hospitalized with suspected food poisoning after eating at a funeral

On the afternoon of July 20, the leader of Hue Central Hospital said that the unit's second facility had received and treated 10 patients suspected of food poisoning after eating food at a funeral in Phong Dinh ward, Hue city.

According to initial information, all 10 patients mentioned above ate the same dishes at the memorial service at noon on July 19, in My Xuyen residential group, Phong Dinh ward.

Among those suspected of food poisoning, 5 patients ate the food a second time (reheated) at 6:00 p.m. the same day.

According to the epidemiological investigation of the Hue City Department of Health , the feast had 6 trays but only about 50 guests attended, including jellyfish salad - shrimp, steamed squid, grilled chicken, grouper hotpot, yogurt, prepared by a restaurant in Phong Dinh ward.

Most suspected cases of food poisoning have consumed a variety of foods. About 15 hours after eating, some people develop symptoms of fever, abdominal cramps, loose stools, and vomiting.

According to the leader of Hue Central Hospital, by 1:30 p.m. on July 20, the unit's second facility had received 10 cases of food poisoning, of which 1 case was being monitored at the Intensive Care Unit, the rest were being treated at the Tropical Diseases Department.

The current health status of all 10 cases has improved. In particular, patient NTL (84 years old), treated at the Intensive Care Unit, is conscious and has improved hemodynamic index.

Hue City Department of Health coordinates with Central Hospital, Branch 2, to update and monitor the situation of patients related to the suspected food poisoning case to have appropriate intervention measures.

Hue City Department of Health also directed the Food Safety Department, Center for Disease Control, Phong Dien Medical Center to investigate, verify and handle the related environment in the area where the food poisoning occurred.
