So how is the progress of the event and what are the highlights..., Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong had an interview with a reporter from VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper.
The role of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism
- Could you please tell us how the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has prepared to take on the important role of this event?
Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong: The exhibition of national achievements on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day with the theme: "80 years of the Journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness" is an activity of special significance, honoring history, introducing the outstanding achievements of the Party, State and People in the process of protecting, building and developing the country over the past 80 years; affirming the leadership role of the Party, the management of the State, the consensus, creativity and efforts of the entire nation in the cause of building and developing the country. This is also an opportunity to promote the image of a renewed and dynamic Vietnam to all classes of people and the international community.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is assigned to be the standing agency of the Steering Committee for the Project on Exhibition of Socio-Economic Achievements on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025). The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism is the Head of the Exhibition Organizing Committee.

In order to carry out the assigned tasks, the Ministry has presided over and coordinated with relevant agencies to develop and complete a system of documents directing, operating and guiding the implementation of the Exhibition and submitted them to the Head of the Steering Committee and the Head of the Organizing Committee for promulgation as a basis for implementing the Exhibition: Building and perfecting the organizational apparatus, establishing the Steering Committee, Organizing Committee, Sub-committees and Standing Departments; Issuing documents guiding the implementation, including plans, regulations, standards for exhibition spaces, and event identification logo samples, according to its authority.

The Ministry also issued a Communication Plan before, during and after the Exhibition; completed, issued and announced the use of the Exhibition's logo for timely implementation in propaganda work; organized 3 meetings with ministries, branches and localities to deploy and speed up the implementation of tasks assigned by the Government, the Steering Committee and the Exhibition Organizing Committee.
In addition, the Ministry coordinated with the Vietnam Exhibition Center and the international consulting unit to design and allocate space and display area for agencies, organizations and enterprises participating in the Exhibition; come up with ideas, design the identity system, apply it in the overall space of the Exhibition and send it to the International Consultant. On that basis, the International Consultant researched and completed the design plan. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism agreed with the plan completed by the International Consultant and reported to the Government Standing Committee at the meeting on July 29, 2025.
Implementing the Government's direction, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is actively coordinating with ministries, branches and localities to implement the five assigned tasks, ensuring the clear division of six tasks: clear people, clear work, clear responsibilities, clear authority, clear time, clear results to basically complete the items before August 15, 2025, specifically: developing a Plan to organize the Opening and Closing Ceremonies; urging ministries, branches and localities participating in the Exhibition to complete the design layout of the Exhibition area of the agency and unit according to the adjusted comments of the Content and International Consulting Subcommittee; completing the plan to organize the construction of the exhibition; coordinating with international consulting units to design the overall layout inside and outside the Exhibition area, and at the same time building and implementing the Exhibition on a digital platform; designing festive decorations, visual propaganda, publications, and propaganda videos to promote the Exhibition; In coordination with relevant ministries and branches, Vingroup Corporation develops plans to ensure security, order and health.

Technology will "give wings" to the Exhibition
- This is also an opportunity to promote the image of a dynamic, innovative Vietnam that is deeply integrated with the world. Therefore, the Government requires the Exhibition to be of high quality and international standards. To demonstrate that stature, what bold impressions are chosen to be displayed and spread, Deputy Minister ?
Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is advising, developing and submitting to the Prime Minister for promulgation the "Communication strategy to promote Vietnam's image abroad" with the goal of building a positive, humane and trustworthy national image of Vietnam - a Vietnam that is making breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, integrating deeply and comprehensively into the international community, while always maintaining the traditional identity and noble values of the nation.
The exhibition of national achievements on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day is a clear demonstration of that breakthrough development, a place that brings together outstanding socio-economic development achievements of all fields, ministries, branches, localities and business communities nationwide, through the application of the most modern and advanced exhibition technology today.
To demonstrate the stature and quality of the Exhibition worthy of international standards as directed by the Government, we choose technologies and designs that harmoniously combine unique traditional cultural imprints and modern cultural quintessence to spread comprehensively and completely the 80-year journey of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam: Independence - Freedom - Happiness.
In terms of content, the Exhibition will display and introduce the country's outstanding achievements in 80 years of construction and development in key areas such as industry - technology; investment - trade; agriculture - rural areas; security - defense; foreign affairs; health, education; culture, sports and tourism, specifically: introducing Vietnamese culture - country - people with a 4,000-year cultural tradition; the rich cultural diversity of 54 ethnic groups; the richness of resources, products of the three regions and outstanding architectural works of the past and present across the country; green industries and the journey of green transformation, digital transformation of Vietnam; Vietnam's aviation and aerospace industry; Vietnam's security - defense industry; space of 12 Vietnamese cultural industries.

The multi-layer digital map of 34 new provinces and cities of Vietnam is a new technology product introduced to the public at this Exhibition to spread the positive results of the revolution of streamlining and streamlining the local government apparatus at all levels that our Party and State have just successfully implemented.
In particular, the nation's 80-year journey of "Independence - Freedom - Happiness" is recorded through many precious moments, which are photos and video clips recorded by people across the country, submitted to the contest and won prizes in the annual "Happy Vietnam" Award organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Those photos and videos will be collected and displayed at the exhibition "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam" within the framework of this important series of events.
- In recent times, multimedia experiences, digital technology, AI... have contributed to "giving wings" to many art programs, exhibitions, displays... So, could you please tell us how this element will be applied in the Exhibition and the activities of the upcoming event series? How will the zones be arranged to highlight the themes ?
Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong: One of the highlights of this Exhibition is the strong application of modern technology and the introduction of many creative display ideas appearing for the first time in a national-scale Exhibition.
Applying modern digital technology, building a digital exhibition integrating WebVR technology and interacting in 3D space to virtualize the entire exhibition and optimize the experience for visitors, creating a seamless connection between real space and digital space, creating conditions for people across the country, overseas Vietnamese and the international community to not only observe but also directly interact, explore and experience on a convenient and easy digital platform. Some units also introduce digital maps, achievements, artificial intelligence applications, virtual exhibition tours, etc.

Indoor and outdoor exhibition spaces are logically arranged on an area of nearly 260,000m2 , according to large content areas such as: general exhibition area; green economic zone, clean energy and green industries; aviation and space industrial zone; security - defense industrial zone; cultural industry zone 12.
In addition to traditional images and artifacts, the Exhibition also introduces creative design ideas, reflecting the breath of the times, associated with the trend of digital transformation, digital culture, green development, helping to convey content in a more intuitive, vivid and accessible way, especially to young people. I believe that, with such innovative approaches, application of technology and creativity, the Exhibition will become an educational space, inspiring patriotism and national pride to every Vietnamese person.
The sprint phase is complete.
- As the agency assigned to preside over and coordinate many key contents, which require inter-sectoral, local, and business connections, etc. Up to this point, could you please tell us about the preparations of ministries, sectors, and localities? Will the merger of provinces, departments, and sectors with new personnel affect the preparation progress? Is the Ministry facing any difficulties, Deputy Minister ?
Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong: Up to now, the inter-sectoral coordination work has been implemented synchronously and comprehensively. Ministries, branches and localities have issued their own implementation plans, selected content, models and typical achievements to participate in the Exhibition, and have plans to implement assigned tasks and work. Although there have been adjustments to administrative units and new personnel in some agencies, in general, the progress has not been affected due to the spirit of initiative and high responsibility from the Central to local levels.
The biggest difficulty is the large amount of work, many new, difficult, unprecedented groups of tasks, while having to be carried out in a short time. However, with high political determination, drastic actions of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and departments, ministries, branches and localities, up to now everything is still following the progress in the spirit of "running while lining up."

- Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh at a recent meeting of the Exhibition Steering Committee requested that all preparations for the Exhibition must be basically completed before August 15. It is expected that on August 20, the Steering Committee will inspect and review before the general rehearsal of the opening of the Exhibition. Could you please tell us what the current progress is, is it enough to meet the Government's requirements ?
Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong: We fully share the Government's high requirements and determination in organizing the Exhibition to ensure the progress, quality, stature and significance of the event.
Currently, the units are entering the final stage. The basic infrastructure of the Exhibition space has been completed, the construction of the exhibition and staging is being implemented by the agencies and units starting from August 1. The communication plan, art programs, and sideline activities have also been built synchronously.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is presiding over and coordinating with relevant agencies to develop a plan to organize the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Exhibition. The organization is being actively implemented, ensuring smooth and synchronous coordination between ministries, branches and localities in the spirit of "Six clarifications: clear people, clear work, clear responsibilities, clear authority, clear time, clear results", ensuring that the work is basically completed before August 15 for the Steering Committee to inspect and approve.
- Thank you very much, Deputy Minister./.
