Tet holiday is very fun, but many people do not choose the option of 'taking Tet holiday means forgetting all about work and study'.

But instead of choosing to take a "free" holiday, neglecting all work and lessons until the day they return to school or work, many people choose to "turn on the switch" to start from the first days of the new year. Why is that?

Don't quit a habit and then come back.

"Even small habits that are formed regularly will be easy to "start", but the bigger problem is to completely give up a habit for a certain period of time and then return to it. That's why during the Tet holiday, I still take advantage of one to two hours each day to work and read books, listen to podcasts about mental health at the beginning of the day, and spend the rest of the time going out, having fun with relatives, friends... Thanks to this, "starting" again after Tet is not too difficult", shared Master Vinh San Pham, National Communications Director of DOL English.

Master Vinh San Pham often does these 3 things during Tet holiday to get back into the work rhythm right from the beginning of the new year.

The first thing is to read a lot, meet a lot. Read domestic and international newspapers to know that the economic recession is still persistent, the unemployment rate is still very high and life is increasingly challenging... Listen a lot to know that many people are struggling to make a living every day. Therefore, if you still have a job to try every day, have a goal to pursue, that becomes a motivation, overcoming the times when your spirit is going down.

Living with a goal makes every day exciting.

Second, during the Tet holiday, we should outline the gains and losses when we only live by instinct without learning or trying. Mr. Vinh San Pham said: "People often tend to like to live in the most comfortable state - also known as "laziness", but this only gives us temporary comfort and ease, but in the long run, we face the risk of losing our jobs, reducing our income, reducing our self-worth... There is an interesting thing that when we find something difficult but we still try to do it and do it, our mood will be much more comfortable and excited, because the brain secretes a neurotransmitter called dopamine".

Living with purpose makes every new day come with excitement.

"I believe that adults will feel a state of true peace and security when they constantly learn and innovate. In the era of AI, if we do not stop learning, we will quickly be eliminated. Don't be afraid that AI will become stronger, but what is really scary is that we humans are gradually losing many skills, even basic skills," he added.

Third, you need to spend time thinking a lot about your goals and ambitions. To achieve those ambitions, you need to set a target of how many new things you need to learn every day and every month and regularly check the "KPI" you have achieved.

"There will come a time when we realize that creating more values and living with clear goals will make us happier than simply earning a lot of money. When living with goals, each new day will come with excitement, you will start the "wheel" of work as soon as you wake up. Young people with strong ambitions will help us live, not just exist," said a representative of DOL English.

The story of a 12th grade math student who achieved many successes

Nguyen Ngoc Minh Anh, grade 12 specialized in math, Gifted High School, Ho Chi Minh City National University, studied specialized math since grade 9 and won 2 first prizes in city-level excellent student competitions, then passed the entrance exam to her dream high school and began to expand her learning path.

This talented student has achieved a series of impressive results such as being selected to participate in the "Southern Mathematics Summer School 2021", representing the school and the South to participate in the "International Modeling Mathematics" competition and participating in a number of school-level scientific research projects.

This is also one of the students who founded the Library Collaborators Club in grade 10 with the desire to bring a dynamic and not boring learning and reading experience at the school library. Minh Anh's group prepares workshops on holidays such as Vietnamese Teachers' Day November 20, Mid-Autumn Festival, Christmas, organizes meetings with writers, writes book reviews, organizes volunteer activities at temples... How can Minh Anh study well and do so many activities at the same time?

Your experience is to arrange a reasonable time for studying and personal activities, not only on weekdays but also during holidays, such as Lunar New Year. Therefore, there is no such thing as female students "freely" spending Tet holidays, forgetting all about studying and arranging goals.

In grade 10, Minh Anh often took advantage of the break between classes and lunch to complete the homework of that day to avoid having to cram the homework into one evening before the due date. She arranged 4-5 days a week to study specialized math with her classmates in the evening, the remaining days would be spent on other subjects or doing projects. When she entered grades 11 and 12, the female student focused more on university entrance exams and research activities. She allocated two days on the weekend to study the 3 main subjects of math, chemistry, biology, and doing exercises, leaving the weekdays for the remaining subjects.

Students in the math class at the Gifted High School said that in class, they always try to ask as many questions as possible about the thinking behind the theories, which is learning by asking "why?" instead of asking "what?". Thanks to this way of learning in general and learning English by thinking method, Mai Anh achieved IELTS 8.0 and SAT 1520/1600 last year despite being a math major.

"There are times when I feel overloaded with schoolwork, especially during exam preparation periods. I usually spend 20-30 minutes watching a game show or a short video from my favorite YouTube channel to instantly reduce stress. Another way I can do anywhere is to listen to instrumental music and write down what I have done and what I need to do during the day," the 12th grade student shared her experience.

Exercise for physical and mental health

During the Tet holiday, don't forget to exercise both physically and mentally. That's the advice of experts.

There is a close relationship between these two factors. For example, when exercising regularly with the right intensity, the brain will secrete a series of neurotransmitters such as endorphins, dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, etc., helping us to always feel comfortable and happy, reducing the pain we are experiencing. When the mood is comfortable, the body is healthy, studying and working will be effective.

"Each person will have a different biological rhythm, so observe and choose the time when you study and work most effectively to study and work. This combined with thinking will make work and study results much better," shared Master Vinh San Pham.
