After 6 months of construction, the progress of the Sa Dec bridge clearance raising project (Dong Thap province) has reached 25%. Currently, the contractor can only carry out the part under the river and wait for the site to be cleared to construct both ends of the bridge.
Increased human resources and equipment
Mr. Pham Duc Tam, officer in charge of the project, Dat Phuong Group Company (construction contractor) said that the contract for the construction of the Sa Dec bridge (Dong Thap) is 18 months.
Contractor urgently constructs the project to raise the clearance of Sa Dec bridge (Dong Thap).
Upon completion, the new bridge will have a clearance of 38m wide and 7m high. Meanwhile, the clearance of the old bridge was 20m wide and 4.6m high, which did not meet the travel and freight needs of the people, especially when the water level rose.
However, after 6 months of construction, the project has only achieved 25% progress. The contractor has completed the work related to building a temporary bridge, dismantling the old bridge under the river and is currently constructing 8/58 bored piles.
Currently, at the construction site, the contractor has increased the number of workers by 40% and the equipment and machinery by 60% to serve the construction work in order to speed up the project implementation progress according to the proposed plan.
"Regarding the demolition of the old bridge, the contractor has completed 70%, that is, the part under the river. The remaining 30% on the shore, that is, the two ends of the bridge, the contractor will complete the demolition in November," Mr. Tam added.
Waiting for construction site clearance
According to Mr. Tam, the current difficulty for the contractor is that the land clearance on both sides of the bridge is still not convenient, so the arrangement of machinery and equipment is not convenient. In order to save time, the contractor organizes workers to work immediately at any construction location.
Due to land issues, the Sa Dec bridge clearance raising project can only be implemented on the part below the river.
"Currently, only the part under the river is free of clearance, so the contractor has organized workers to construct the parts related to the Sa Dec bridge clearance raising project. According to calculations, if by January or February 2025 the site is clear, the contractor will continue to increase human resources, equipment and organize construction on both sides of the bridge so that the project can be completed on schedule," said Mr. Tam.
The Waterway Project Management Board, Ministry of Transport (investor) said that the Sa Dec Bridge clearance raising project has a total area of 1.51 hectares. The project is being implemented with a total of 83 households affected.
Up to now, the specialized agency has mobilized households on the approach road of the temporary bridge to deploy the temporary bridge to open to traffic on September 11, 2024. However, the access road and the two side roads are still stuck, affecting the plan to mobilize materials and equipment for the contractor to compensate for the missed progress.
The investor is actively coordinating with relevant units to remove obstacles in the site clearance so that the project can be completed on schedule.
Regarding this issue, the investor also requested the Dong Thap Department of Transport, Dong Thap Water Supply and Drainage Company and local authorities to support the handover of the old bridge site, relocation of clean water lines and technical infrastructure to facilitate the construction unit during the implementation process.
"To soon have a site for the Sa Dec bridge clearance raising project, the investor is also actively coordinating with Dong Thap Land Fund Development Center and local authorities to soon approve the compensation plan.
It is expected that in November, relevant units will approve the compensation plan and implement the steps to pay and hand over the site according to regulations," the Waterway Project Management Board, Ministry of Transport added.
