The first Flower - Ornamental Festival organized by Dong Thap province, with the theme "Love of land - Love of flowers" will take place for 7 days (from December 30, 2023 to January 5, 2024). This is the largest-scale event ever held in the capital of the pink lotus land - Dong Thap.

The event was held to honor the flower and ornamental plant growing profession in the Sa Dec City Square area (Dong Thap). At the same time, the event aimed to promote the economic value of flower and ornamental plant products, the key products of the agricultural sector of Dong Thap province.

From there, contributing to promoting trade, tourism and investment, propagating and promoting the image of the land of pink lotus to tourists near and far.

During the festival, many impressive cultural and tourism activities were organized with nine main programs, such as: Flower gate decoration contest, flower street, beautiful office flower garden; flower and ornamental space; honoring Sa Dec flower and ornamental plant growers; Flower Fashion Contest with the theme: "Colorful flowers along the Sa Giang River"; opening and closing ceremonies of Sa Dec Flower and Ornamental Plant Festival.

Walking around to feel the joyful and bustling atmosphere before the Sa Dec Flower and Ornamental Festival, Ms. Ngo Ngoc Van (30 years old, living in Sa Dec city, Dong Thap province) shared: "Many beautifully decorated miniatures are being prepared for the festival, so I stopped by and took pictures to post on social networks for many relatives to see.

I called and invited friends to Sa Dec to enjoy flowers during the Sa Dec Flower and Ornamental Festival, which was held for the first time in the largest flower and ornamental capital of the West.

Up to this point, all over the streets of Sa Dec city, flower gates, flower streets, flower gardens... have been decorated very beautifully and impressively.

Tourists can easily see and capture many beautiful moments with colorful flower pots and elaborate flower gates displayed by 112 units including households, businesses and communes participating in the Sa Dec Flower - Ornamental Festival organized for the first time by Dong Thap province.

The opening ceremony will take place at 8:30 p.m. on December 30 at Sa Dec City Square.

Ramsar sunrise and sunset viewing

Mr. Le Hoang Long, Director of Tram Chim Tourist Area, Tam Nong District (Dong Thap) said that tourism activities in Tram Chim are always changing from time to time.

The goal is to satisfy visitors when visiting Vietnam's 4th Ramsar site and the world's 2,000th Ramsar site, with two exciting tours to watch the sunrise and sunset at Tram Chim.

Specifically, the program of visiting Tram Chim sunrise tour, sitting on the "Western Cruise" to watch the sunrise and explore the wild nature with typical plants and animals of Dong Thap Muoi region, such as lotus, water lily and water birds looking for food in the early morning.

At stop C4, check-in Tram Chim past and present from a height of 15 meters on the observation deck. Visit the ghost rice field (or sky rice), bird egg and freshwater fish exhibition house...

Next, visitors can experience the Tram Chim sunset tour with many similar activities such as sunrise sightseeing, experiencing more about tea culture and enjoying lotus tea, lotus seeds, grilled bananas. Visit the place where Melaleuca bark paintings are made and shop for specialties sold in this tourist area.

"We are changing to serve visitors. We want visitors to come in larger numbers the next time they come. We hope that Tram Chim will truly be the choice of visitors whenever they have the opportunity to visit Dong Thap province," said Mr. Long.

Experience the countryside market

Meanwhile, in the heart of Cao Lanh city (Dong Thap), many people are surprised to see a rural market in the middle of Tan Thuan Dong islet with all kinds of rustic dishes, giving many people the feeling of returning to their childhood memories.

Here, it is not difficult to find childhood memories with many rustic dishes, typical of the Mekong Delta such as banh xeo, banh khot, banh bo, banh duc, banh la mit, grilled banana, grilled sweet potato, grilled corn and especially shaved ice syrup...

Ms. Huynh Thi Loi (59 years old), a trader at Tan Thuan Dong rural market, said that her family has a tradition of making traditional cakes, dried bananas, and dried sweet potatoes.

Since this market opened, the family has had the opportunity to sell more items, thanks to which the family income has become more stable than before.

Sitting next to her, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ba (50 years old) also sold many things she found around the house such as a bunch of morning glory, water lilies, sesban flowers, papaya, various types of snails, mussels and various types of natural shrimp and fish.

Mrs. Ba said: "This place specializes in selling all kinds of bronze items. Anyone who has anything can bring it here to sell. Since this market opened, this island has become more cheerful than before.

The prices are very affordable, fast food like cakes cost from 10,000 to 20,000 VND. And copper products like the ones I sell here cost a few thousand VND/kg, depending on the type."
