During 2 days (May 25-26), the Red Cross Association coordinated with the Medical Center and Van Ban District General Hospital to organize a humanitarian medical examination program, provide free medicine and health care in 2 communes: Duong Quy and Son Thuy.
During the 2 days, the staff, doctors, and volunteers examined more than 250 people from poor households, the disabled, the elderly, homeless children, victims of Agent Orange, families in difficult circumstances, households in remote areas, ethnic minority areas, etc. Through examination, the volunteer group discovered a number of people with respiratory, digestive, and blood pressure diseases; some suspected cases of serious illness were referred for re-examination at medical facilities for timely treatment. During the program, the volunteer group also distributed free medicine to people, with a total value of more than 22 million VND. The funding was drawn from the Humanitarian Fund of the Red Cross Society of Van Ban district.
Also in the program, the volunteer force disseminated to the people knowledge about health education; disease prevention and control; ensuring food safety and hygiene; voluntary blood donation; clean water and environmental sanitation; community-based first aid skills; natural disaster prevention; rescue in emergency situations...
Previously, Van Ban District General Hospital also coordinated with the National Children's Hospital to examine and provide consultation for about 200 children and 15 pregnant women. Some cases of congenital heart disease were directly consulted and promptly treated by doctors from the National Children's Hospital.
