On the afternoon of April 6, at the regular Government press conference, Dan Tri reporter asked: Currently, on social networks, there are many advertisements of singers, actors, and models that just by listening, you can tell are not true, typically weight loss products or skin creams...
The case of false advertising about Kera vegetable candy by Hang Du Muc group, Quang Linh Vlogs and Miss Thuy Tien has just happened. I would like to request the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to inform us, is there any mechanism or proposal to control and manage more strictly the advertising content of people with social influence?
Answering this question, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) Le Hai Binh said that with the development of social networks, celebrities, singers and artists advertising and marketing on social networks is a common phenomenon and a very popular trend today.
According to Mr. Binh, to regulate these advertising activities, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and related ministries and branches have taken many measures to inspect, monitor and handle the shortcomings and limitations of this phenomenon.
In June 2021, the Minister of Information and Communications issued a Code of Conduct on social networks. In December 2021, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a Code of Conduct for those participating in artistic activities on social networks.
The Permanent Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that with the increasing number of new issues in practice, the Ministry is implementing the process of amending the Advertising Law. The drafting agency has received many enthusiastic and practical comments and the drafting agency plans to add some very specific provisions related to celebrities and artists participating in advertising.
"First of all, each person participating in advertising on social networks must be responsible before the law in general and the Advertising Law in particular for the products they advertise. In addition, they must be responsible and transparently verify the products they advertise," said Mr. Binh.
According to the Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the decree implementing the Law on Advertising (amended) will have very specific provisions to regulate the activities of celebrities and artists participating in advertising, including sanctions to increase the level of penalties, ban advertising if there is a violation, even restrict artistic activities or limit appearances on media and social networks...
State management work in this field has been carried out very early and has been implemented very specifically. Mr. Binh affirmed that in the coming time, measures will continue to be implemented to better manage this issue.
"The question of the reporter of Dan Tri newspaper is very interesting, like "Just by hearing those advertisements, you can tell they are not true". I hope that Dan Tri newspaper and other press agencies will contribute together to increase the knowledge of society, so that anyone who sees an advertisement will know if it is real or fake.
Besides, it contributes to raising awareness of famous people, singers and actors when participating in advertising, so that they realize that advertising can easily trade off reputation and public love which is very difficult to build," the Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated.
