Previously, in February 2025, Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 announced a project to organize an independent exam for admission in 2025. According to the school, organizing a separate exam aims to diversify admission methods, increase admission chances and better classify candidates' abilities, thereby selecting suitable students.

The school plans to hold an independent exam on June 1st, at the school and some high schools in Vinh Phuc province. Candidates can register from April 1st to May 4th.

Candidates are grade 12 students or high school graduates, people with foreign diplomas recognized as equivalent. Exam fee is 200,000 VND/subject/session.

Literature will be tested in the form of multiple choice and essay. The remaining subjects will be tested in the form of multiple choice. Regarding test time, Literature and Math will be tested in 90 minutes, the remaining subjects will be tested in 60 minutes.

The test content closely follows the 2018 general education program, mainly covering grade 12. The test is designed in a competency-based approach, with questions linked to meaningful contexts to measure the manifestations of the assessed competencies.

In addition to using the results of this exam for university admission, in 2025, Hanoi National University of Education 2 plans to consider admission by the following methods: Considering the results of the high school graduation exam; considering the results of the academic transcript; considering direct admission and priority for direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; considering admission based on the results of the competency assessment exam of Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh City National University; considering the results of the competency assessment exam of Hanoi National University of Education and the specialized assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City National University of Education.

Specialized pedagogical training majors such as Preschool Education, Physical Education, and Sports Management use the above methods, but in the admission combinations, the results of aptitude tests organized by the school are used.

Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 does not use the results of aptitude tests organized by other universities.
