The question is almost a common concern of many students present at the talk show "Light your compass - Position yourself to light up competitive advantages" recently held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University).

The program is organized by Aiesec Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City branch, with the hope of sharing some methods to help new graduates adapt to today's dynamic and changing working environment.

In any stage, the act of re-evaluating the past always determines the level of success in the future. Only by looking back, young people will know where they went wrong, what needs to be adjusted or promoted.

According to Master of Human Resource Management Vuong Thi Huyen Nga (Human Resources Director of Mekong Capital), knowledge, skills and attitude are the three factors that determine the success or failure of new entrants to the labor market. In particular, a studious, hard-working and receptive attitude will help students adapt more easily to a new and professional working environment.

The advice is that people with outstanding academic achievements are often prone to star disease, so they must know how to be humble and respect the efforts of others.

Master Huyen Nga believes that before choosing a career, young people should determine their mission of serving the community. Because that is the foundation for you to strive and persistently pursue your ideals at work, and also to avoid the mentality of constantly changing jobs in a short period of time.

The advice seems old but is not redundant: if you want to have a smooth start, each student needs to spend time learning and getting inspired by all issues related to the career they have chosen.

In case you don't know and don't have much information about the profession, be honest and bold to ask for help from your seniors.

In addition, it is necessary to identify specific customer files and accurately understand their needs to help new employees easily visualize, adapt and improve work efficiency.

Continuing the above idea, Master of Education Nguyen Phuong Huynh (soft skills lecturer at FPT University in Ho Chi Minh City) said that students need to identify and distinguish between fixed mindset and open mindset to have a smooth start. From there, guide the practice of positive thinking "always have faith in yourself".

This speaker believes that it takes a long time to practice to have a progressive thinking process. For example, when you feel hopeless and resentful after receiving criticism from your superiors, try to change your perspective and see it as an opportunity to help yourself improve.

The speakers also reminded students about tools to search and select information on the labor market. They need to be careful to avoid falling into the trap of recruitment scams, sometimes falling into debt because of participating in jobs that require advance payment.
